WASHINGTON - It sounds like a wild idea - a Gondola carrying area residents and tourists over the Potomac River from Rosslyn to Georgetown and back again - but it could soon become reality.

The hope is that it would ease congestion on the Key Bridge, especially since, according to the Washington Post, some 50,000 vehicles cross the bridge every day. Today the project is one step closer to getting a feasibility study off the ground.

I hope it works better than Metro has of late...

and I’d personally rather take a boat.

Terrorist bait.

Lol. Wouldn't I just LOVE to see some terrorist get trapped in one of those? The marksmen would have a field day.

I'm watching MAN OF STEEL as I write.
My sister and I bought all the Superman and Batman comics when we were young. I loved'em.

If they won’t cross the bridge on foot now, they’re not going to walk to this amusement park ride to cross the river, either.

The monorail episode was epic. Maybe one of the greatest television moments since Lucy and the candy conveyor.

Idea sanity test:

Did the low IQ WaPo marshmallow majors like it?

Yes: bad idea
No: build it now

Didn’t have a two cents to scrape together as a kid.

I never got into comics. It’s an interesting medium though.

Privately funded, I think this might be a great money maker and a nice addition to the area.

When I was growing up, there was a neighboring family who had a mentally retarded daughter. For some reason she was obsessed with comic books - I think her folks bought her every one, every month. Her mother gave them all to me and my brother, when the daughter was done with them.

I remember whole summers immersed in Superman, Wonder Woman, etc. I don’t know what the comics are like now, but back then they were great.

BTW: I think the Man of Steel movie is a good one.

I also liked the previous Spiderman movie.

It seemed to me both were more humanistic without going completely feminine.
