There are two possible options. This is a head fake, big buildup of anticipation so that when it all turns out to be “nothing” it can be played off as anticlimatic.

Or it’s preparatory signalling that the Federal law enforcement and intel communities aren’t going to let it go.

My inclination, given the material already made public by the IG and FOIA releases is to think it the latter. The only difference here with Snowden is that Snowden was 100% intentional and premeditated while this was more deliberate negligence.

It’s one of many leaks to attract public attention and build anticipation. Marketing can be used for good or bad. In this case it’s all good.

Hillary is already being tried in the court of public opinion. When the details of her pay-for-play deals comes out, a lot of the maggots are going to gag.

If they let it go, it is a horrible precedent. But, again, we are talking about the Dems here. Conventional rules don’t apply. And the Clinton “magic” is not what it used to be.

I suspect Bill knows what is going on too, which is perhaps why he’s been so subdued lately.

deliberate negligence

Legally, that's called recklessness. Depending on the facts, it might go as low as gross negligence, but probably not. OTOH, being informed that a certain document couldn't go through because of the top secret markings on it and then directing flunkies to take off the top secret markings and send it unmarked crosses the line into intentional and knowing behavior. That one email exchange is enough for an airtight case.

Agree with what you posted, except for the last part. Setting up a private serve, and cutting and pasting classified info into emails sent to and from said server, are deliberate acts. (Yes, HRC may try to let the underlings take the fall for the cutting and pasting, but that won't fly because it wouldn't have been done without her approval.)

I've believed since last year, and am now convinced, that HRC will not politically survive this email scandal. One way or another, she will fall. Many freepers reflexively post, “She's a Clinton! She's untouchable!”, but HRC is long past her sell date and I don't believe most Dems are going to sacrifice anything for her sake.

"There are two possible options."

A third possibility: an underling falls on his or her sword for Clinton, taking the rap, etc.

I disagree, this is way worse. The purpose of the homebrew was to ringfence Clinton Global.

It was all about monetizing public office - this is The Clintons, after all - and national security be damned.

When they expanded the investigation to CGI, then you knew it had to stink to high heaven. This is public corruption with no altruistic virtue of any kind. At least one could make a case that Snowden was a confused member of a misguided cause; The Clintons are just horrible in every detail.

If there really are 150 agents on this case, the truth shall set us free.

This was not negligence; it was premeditated espionage. You cannot just accidentally copy this type of information. It is completely air-gapped and there is no way to physically remove the material without purposeful resorting to illegal methods.

The number of people involved is much greater than the public has been made aware. There are some sys admins who are facing serious charges and that’s before you even start looking at the recipients, both intended and opportunists. Every foreign service probably got access to this information, since the information was basically made available to the public. Even Snowden’s material was relatively cold in comparison. Clinton’s materials were available in real time.

True that. How many times did we see the head fake with BJ? At least a thousand.
