This tweet from Trump is stupid on many levels.
Cruz should reply,
“I was thinking we could have the debate on Susette Kelo’s old property in New London, Connecticut. It’s not being used for anything else”
Cruz reply:
“Perhaps we could have the debate in the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. We shouldn’t have any trouble booking it”

In the 1960's my Grandmother lost her beautiful and magical Victorian home in Birmingham to the Interstate highway. There are several empty city blocks where I had fond memories of playing in my youth, but only rats and rabbits live now. That was the Federal Government that took my Grandparents home between 1st and 2nd Avenue South.
The eminent domain issue has nothing to do with Trump. Eminent domain has existed from the start of our democratic republic. The successive broadening of the "public use" interpretation did not start with Trump and no President of the United States has the power to change that interpretation.
