IOC transgender guidelines may go too far, leading to an unfair Olympic playing field (O. Sentinel)
The Orlando Sentinel ^ | 1/24/16 | David Whitley

Posted on 01/26/2016 12:10:46 PM PST by Faith Presses On

Sometimes the world is moving so fast you just want to hop off. I am tempted after hearing that the Olympics will no longer require men to have the one thing that has always pretty much determined whether you are a man or a woman.

(snip)

I don't know about you, but I strive to be tolerant, enlightened and avoid being considered a knuckle-dragging moron. But I have to admit, the IOC's move feels like a bridge too far.

"It is an adaptation to a human rights issue," IOC medical commission chairman Arne Ljungqvist told the Associated Press. "This is an important matter. It's a trend of being more flexible and liberal."

But is it at the expense of being fair to all competitors?

(snip)

For eons, men were men and women were women. If there was any question, the answer was easy enough to find.

Now nothing is simple. All I know to do is beg the enlightened crowd to show the tolerance they so often demand of others.

I want to join you. I really do.

It's just that when the world increasingly looks like a South Park episode, it can be hard not to sound like knuckle-dragging moron.

Posted for the rarity these days of the secular humanist media speaking halfway honestly about anything. I haven't read anything this even-handed in I don't know when.

And okay, but combat units in the military are better off with women?

I don’t know why anyone would care. The Olympic Games have quickly reached the point where nobody even wants to host them anymore.

Talk about a hatred of women!?! How would you like to be a female Olympic Athlete competing against a bunch of men... training your entire life to to win the Olympics only to get crushed by a cross-dressing Sodomite?

Yes, the Olympics are no longer a respectable endeavor.

The organizing committee is rife with corruption and political correctness.

The Gmaes thenmselves now are being debauched to the point where nobody trusts the results. NOw you want to give the trannies the chance to compete against women?

The original Olympics were done in the nude to prevent cheating....maybe they should go back to that.

Exactly my thoughts! I do not watch them any longer- winter or summer games nor would I go if given tickets. If they were next door I’d just use my land for a car parking area...

turning point?

or just a fluke?

when the first transgender female (really male) boxer kills his/her/its opponent, maybe they will wake up.

btw, i used to box and i kept hearing about rhonda roussy or whatever her name is. so i watched her fight on video.

tough. but she punches like a girl.

not a chance when i boxed any of those punches could have knocked me out.

i had my cheek bone fractured by this irish kid Brian when i was 19. He told me he was going maybe 30 percent on me.

i believed him.

30 percent. and he cracked my cheekbone.

women and men are different, folks

I can’t get the accompanying article, but I’ll say that I remember when teams from communist countries were said to put transsexuals on their womens’ teams. Funny that it would go from weird rumor to accepted within the rules.

Carry this to its logical end, and you’re looking at the end of women’s competitive sports.

Fun question for all: who was the only female at the 1976 Olympics not tested to prove she was a female?

Answer: Princess Ann who competed in equestrian events.

we are season ticket holders for a woman's bb team and they look like young women...they wouldn't have a chance against men...

HS boys wouldn't have a chance against most college teams....

its not right...

it'll only affect the womens sports so perhaps nobody really cares, but I do...

but the Olympics will be dead to me if they pull this crap...

Is the positioning of the “snip” intentionally humorous?

Whitley is a good guy. He interviewed me in Orlando at a John Kerry event me and a bunch of other freepers were counter protesting back in 2003. He was exploring the Kerry angle when he was getting the names of various sports teams wrong, Comisky Field, etc.

We faced down some nasty union goons that night. Sigh...good times.
