his is not going to change the minds of any hard-core Trump supporters, but it could have an impact on the late deciders, of which there are many in Iowa. And the fact that it uses video of Trump, with his own words and his own voice, will give it more impact.

Problem with the ad is that it's a lie. Trump in that interview wasn't talking about government funded universal healthcare. He was talking about opening up markets for cross-state insurance companies, among other things. The "government funded" line is straight out out of context.

Cruz's campaign is depending on lies to win its election in Iowa. Question is, are Iowans too beaten down to begin with with deceptive ads that they'll fall for it?

Here is the full context and it's not out of context: Scott Pelley: What's your plan for Obamacare?

Donald Trump: Obamacare's going to be repealed and replaced. Obamacare is a disaster if you look at what's going on with premiums where they're up 45, 50, 55 percent.

Scott Pelley: How do you fix it?

Donald Trump: There's many different ways, by the way. Everybody's got to be covered. This is an un-Republican thing for me to say because a lot of times they say, "No, no, the lower 25 percent that can't afford private." But--

Scott Pelley: Universal health care?

Donald Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now.

Scott Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of how?

Donald Trump: They're going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probably--

Scott Pelley: Make a deal? Who pays for it?

Donald Trump: --the government's gonna pay for it. But we're going to save so much money on the other side. But for the most it's going to be a private plan and people are going to be able to go out and negotiate great plans with lots of different competition with lots of competitors with great companies and they can have their doctors, they can have plans, they can have everything.

Right, he wasn't specifically promising a universal, single-payer system.

But he unequivocally was talking about some kind of system where everyone would be covered, and that the government would pay as necessary to ensure that everyone was covered.

If you disagree, what alternative meaning do you attach to him saying that "everyone" would be covered, and that "the goverment" would pay for it?

Trump also referred to the Federal government “making a deal with the hospitals” in that interview. I am sure that deal will be as easily declined as the “deal” I have with the IRS.

In the interview Trump said multiple times “everyone will be treated” and “the government will pay for it”. The interviewer asked for clarification, and Trump repeated it.

Since we all know the government does not generate a revenue via any products or services, where will all the money to “pay for it” come from, exactly?
