Criminal discovery may not be as broad as civil discovery but it is much more unbalanced. The defense has the right to any and all exculpatory or prejudicial evidence from the prosecution while the prosecution has no such right at all due to the Fifth Amendment.

I'm not familiar with Texas law, but in most states, discovery is far more limited in a criminal case than in a civil case
In Texas, a grand jury is a tool of the prosecution. They only hear arguments and see evidence presented by the prosecutor.
Consequently, a grandy jury hearing is just a formality for a prosecutor to secure an indictment (or no-bill for police shootings).
I feel like this is Terri Shivo all over again . Heartbreaking .

Governor Abbott of Texas decided on that grand jury. He was hoping it would result in charges against Planned Parenthood, but the legal system worked and the criminals themselves who commited crimes in their entrapment effort and illegaly tampered with evidence were indicted. Fancy that. If he hadn’t called the grand jury to try to score political points against Planned Parenthood this never would have happened. Ever heard of karma? Its a bitch!
Get your facts straight. Houston is a city with the city limits drawn to protect the democrat majority inside the city. Harris county has fixed boundaries and almost completely Republican controlled. The chances are very good that this stunt will cost the DA the next election since it was a county office.
