Ted Cruz Tells Reporters "I'm a Christian First, American Second"
Yahoo News ^ | 25 Jan 2016 | Tom McKay

According to presidential candidate and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, there's one thing that more important to him than the country he's running to lead: his God.

In a remarkable exchange in New Hampshire, Politico reports, Cruz told reporters "I'm a Christian first, American second, conservative third and Republican fourth."

"I'll tell ya, there are a whole lot of people in this country that feel exactly the same way," he added.

Cruz, currently ranked second in GOP candidate polls according to RealClearPolitics, enjoys wide support among evangelical Christians in important, early-voting primary states like Iowa, where Cruz is locked in a tight race with current frontrunner Donald Trump. Cruz repeatedly accused Trump and his support of "more deal-making" and enjoying the support of unpopular "establishment" Republicans.

By proclaiming himself a Christian first and an American second, Cruz is professing higher loyalties than the United States — odd for a candidate who has repeatedly accused Muslims of doing much the same thing.

Find another source. Prove that article is wrong. Instead of insulting me, check it out.

Seven Mountains Mandate- as explained by Raul, Sr. It’s on you tube. I’m sure the video has been posted on FR, multiple times.
And the whole dominionist thing is all over the internet from legitimate churches. There won’t be many unsuspecting rubes when Ted gets through- that’s the good news.

Y’all remind me of the OFAs. You ask the same questions & use the same talking points on an endless loop, over & over.
Don’t you know how that makes you look?
Even when someone says Oh, I used to be for Trump, but I changed to Cruz. . .
Don’t you know that people can go back & SEE that person was always for Cruz & anti Trump.
What’s wrong with you people? Who do you work for?

A Christian who tells rich Gays one thing in private to get money and tells Christians something else in public to get their votes.

This disturbs me—if he wants to be all out for God, then he should not take money from Gay billionaires :(

“Trump: “I’m a BILLIONAIRE First, American Second””

Well, at least Trump has had a civilian commercial sector job.

Tec Cruz, 1 year of a law firm working with the government and the rest government. Just another lawyer that is a professional politician.

Think about that!

A constitutional expert is more qualified for the presidency than a CEO, if he understands the constitution properly.

The president runs one branch of the government, not a corporation.

Besides, there are many successful businessmen who would make terrible presidents.

“A constitutional expert is more qualified for the presidency than a CEO, if he understands the constitution properly.”

Not true. We the People are the experts!

This laying claim that a lawyer or scholar must interpret our founding documents is absurd and liberal at the very core. Those documents are not written in a dead language unreadable by the people.

The President doesn’t just work the constitution anyway. He must understand business, regulations, trade, agreements, negotiations, administration, people, etc. Much, much more than just the constitution.

Trump knows it all. Cruz, just another DC lawyer and politician.

How many cases have you won at the Supreme Court level?

OTOH, we have a businessman with no understanding of free trade, and a man who cannot expound on any public policy issue, outside of “let’s make America great again.” He’s an embarassment.

"water for expecting moms and moms of little ones"

So the water should have gone to all "reproductive clinics" instead?

There's no problem with this. Water is absolutely necessary to maintain life. Expecting moms, nursing moms and newborns need water to live. Priority would go to them.

Dead little ones in an abortion clinic have no need for water. And hacking up their bodies for thier organs and tissues, requires no water, other than to clean up the gruesome mess.

I’m sorry you don’t see the point. Cruz is donating water to a small, select group of people who meet his criteria.

Liberal Hollywood is donating water to the City of Flint. They are giving to all.

“Cruz and his homosexual donors agreed on state determination of marriage laws.”

What happened to putting God first? The state doesn’t get to determine what is marriage. That is God’s prerogative.

By God's Third Commandment, Christians are to never do evil in His name.

OTOH, the muzzie’s god commands his slaves to do evil.

There is no common ground, no intersection, no meeting of the minds, no coexistence possible between us and muzzies.

As a religious issue, that is correct. As a legal issue, Cruz is correct - it is a state issue that SCOTUS has made a federal issue. It should be returned to the states.

“A constitutional expert is more qualified for the presidency than a CEO, if he understands the constitution properly.”

It does not take a expert to understand the Constitution. It was written to be understood by the average person. There are no hidden meanings.

But it does takes an expert to obscure the meaning of “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

“...we have a businessman with no understanding of free trade...”

If you want an understanding of free trade, first, go to a big box store and find something manufactured in the United States, and then go check the real unemployment figures.

But you have no problem with the fact that Trump is using money he got from running casinos and strip clubs to run for office...

Your "concern" is duly noted... /s
