Trump to Cruz: Settle eligibility question or 'get out' of the race
Politico ^ | 01/25/2016 | Nick Gass

Donald Trump stepped up his attack on Ted Cruz on Monday, tweeting that the Texas senator needs to "either settle his problem" of having been born in Canada or leave the race.

"It's time for Ted Cruz to either settle his problem with the FACT that he was born in Canada and was a citizen of Canada, or get out of race," Trump tweeted Monday morning, on the heels of Fox News polls released over the weekend that showed him with double-digit leads over Cruz in both Iowa and New Hampshire.

Trump has insisted over the course of the last month that Cruz needs to tackle the issue of his eligibility because he was born in Calgary, Canada, despite Cruz's assertions that he is eligible based on the fact that his mother was born in the United States. Cruz renounced his dual Canadian citizenship in 2014, a fact that Trump has frequently pointed out as cause for concern.

This is going to drive Mark Levin out of his mind.

I’d like to see him settle it as a precedent for future elections and to keep other Canadians, Kenyans, Cubans, and others from running in the future.

I don’t care if he gets out. He’ll be out soon enough.

Why don’t you put on your big boy panties and sue him, Donny? Put up or STFU, in other words.

Go ahead, Donald. File suit. What’s stopping you?

Trump’s right you know. Cruz can never run for president unltil this is resolved. Ted would be the perfect candidate to make his case.

Yes it will.

I will have to read about it. I no longer listen to Levin.

Judging from his performance lately, it will be just a short drive.

RE: Go ahead, Donald. File suit. What’s stopping you?

The SCOTUS will only take cases from those who have STANDING.

From the definition of STANDING:

Standing, sometimes referred to as standing to sue, is the name of the federal law doctrine that focuses on whether a prospective plaintiff can show that some personal legal interest has been invaded by the defendant. It is not enough that a person is merely interested as a member of the general public in the resolution of the dispute. The person must have a personal stake in the outcome of the controversy.

I think Trump would qualify.

A fair point. So why doesn’t Donny man up and bring the lawsuit instead of just sitting in bed playing with his Tweeter over it?

How would you suggest that Cruz do that?

I'd like to see him (Cruz) settle it as a precedent for future elections

This was one of my first three or so bafflements about Cruz. Early on he controlled the narrative. He should've gotten "natural born citizen" defined. What's his hurry? Cruz is young. Four years in the US Senate, getting better at leadership and not doing dumb stuff like TPA, and he would've been in great shape to run, assuming he's eligible.

I'm not seeing him coming across as the smartest and most strategic guy in the room.

JMHO

So, now Trump is ‘he who must be obeyed?’

Who the heck is he to tell Ted Cruz to get out of the race?

Who the heck is he to tell Fox who their moderators can be?

Did anyone see the film, “You’ve Been Trumped?”

Here’s one review:

“You’ve Been Trumped” is a potent study of the intimidating power of money not in theory but on the ground, an examination of how a wealthy man with a boundless sense of entitlement can strong-arm all opposition without really breaking a sweat.

We’re all about to be Trumped and apparently a lot of people here are happy as clams about it.

I don’t doubt that Cruz is eligible, but his refusal or inability to resolve this question right now is troubling.

Endorsements are not judgements, he needs a court ruling before the primaries. Prove it, or get off the pot.

Otherwise, we’ll vote for that American guy instead.

Trump is not helping Hillary. Trump has been very vocal about the fact that anyone else would have already been prosecuted. Trump is in this to win.

Political Insider said Trump was polling 2 to 1 against Hillary.

Two possibilities:
