Albion, you encouraged me to post something along these lines and asked me to ping you when I did. Here it is.

Defeating the Uniparty is Job#1.
Cruz can do that best with fundamental conservatism.
Trump can do that second best with wild populism.
I support Cruz.
I can vote for Trump.
DEATH TO THE UNIPARTY!

They even project idiocies such as Trump's supporters would overlook it if he killed 500 puppies on TV with a hammer, a projection asking for an analysis that I leave to the clinical psychologists.

Truth.

National Review have sided with government program open border advocates. They’re part of the establishment, which is why they’re so against Trump.
They’re not pro Cruz, but pro Rubio

I can’t betray something I’ve pledged no loyalty to. I’ll believe what I think is true, regardless what it’s called.

Too long time I didn’t read.
I support Cruz. I will support Trump in the general if he is nominated.
Some Trump supporters are insane. Not all, just some.

I believe for the republic to survive, it needs a significant injection of fundamental Constitutional Conservatism.
American politics flows in waves; the pendulum analogy is often cited.
I can take a respite of “wild populism”. Presuming of course that it leads to the former conservatism that rights the Republic.
So, the question begs: What is more likely to lead to restoration of smaller federal govt (smaller govt overall too) - diving directly for it, or meandering towards it with a populism interlude.
And what will the inevitable and proverbial pendulum swing look like in 4 or 8 years?
