She once called Donald Trump "a maggot, a cockroach and a crumb." This week, he remembered her as "an impossible person."

...

Coking battled with Trump and prevailed in a 1998 state Supreme Court case that blocked attempts by the state to use eminent domain to condemn the property.

...

But back in the day, Coking wasn't afraid to throw a zinger. At the height of their battle in 1998, the 70-year-old Coking said of Trump to the New York Daily News: "A maggot, a cockroach and a crumb, that's what he is."

"If Trump's thinking I'm gonna die tomorrow, he's having himself a pipe dream," she said then. "I'm gonna be here for a long, long time. I'll stay just to see he's not getting my house. We'll be going to his funeral, you can count on that."

Feisty old lady who outmaneuvered the Donald's bought-and-paid for politicians.

“Feisty” old half wit was offered FIVE MILLION DOLLARS for her property. She eventually sold the place for $700,000 ... Yeah, that was just brilliant - that’s real “NY values” on display.

She put up an admirable fight but the property still hasn’t sold with asking price below $500,000. Trump offered her $1.9 million way back when. She’s now in assisted living out in California. Hindsight and all that, she’d have been far better off not being quite so feisty and taking Trump’s offer.

He offered her 4 or 5 million. She turned him down. He moved on She later sold her house for 700,000
Feisty but not very bright. She could have bought a YUGE house on her own island !

So the moral of the story is grovel, take the money, and give in?

There is more to life than money.

She would have been financially much better off to have taken the deal. Property values there have collapsed since then.

No, the moral of the story is that sometimes your first offer is your best offer so think long and hard about rejecting it.

She didn’t want his money... she wanted her home. And she won.

Small problem She didn’t want to sell her property. So the statist Trump sicced the state actors after her to take her property. Fortunately this was before the execrable Kelo decision and all Trumps bribes and all Trumps statist pukes could not steal her property.

Noted, she didn’t want to sell, as is her right. She lost a lot of money, though.

She bet wrong, but it was her right to refuse to sell her property to Trump, and a sleazy move by Trump to have the city government strongarm her into selling. As to judgment, at the time, she had no way of predicting a future that included Indian gaming or casinos in NYC. Whatever her motivations, it was her right as a property owner to hold out against Trump's attempt to use the government to force her to sell.

Not exactly correct but irrelevant.

Cruz is a crony Democrat who tried to steal a widows house using the government.

He’s scum like Obama.

Feisty and greedy. Trump offered 5 million but she wanted more. He walked away. Then the Atlantic City real estate market crashed. She saved Trump from a bad investment.

You and Mark keep using the word “Statist” over and over, but it’s not catching on.

OK, which is it? One of you is full of it.

What matters is the Eminent Domain story to shine light on an ugly profit at all costs business philosophy and character.

How that affects this campaign, is for each to decide.
