"I'm not going to judge his Christian faith because, look, God is going to judge mine, he's going to judge his," Huckabee said when questioned about Cruz's charitable donations and whether or not protecting marriage is a priority for Cruz during an interview on The O'Reilly Factor on Thursday.
Huckabee told Fox News's Bill O'Reilly, "Nobody has caught me saying something different in New York than I say in Sioux Center. If I tell somebody something in Marshalltown, Iowa, they will hear the exact same things in Manhattan."
Huckabee, a former Southern Baptist Minister, was referencing an earlier report from Politico that Cruz allegedly said he would make protecting marriage a priority while on the campaign trail, but said something different during a fundraiser in New York.
"I have been asked a lot of questions," Huckabee told O'Reilly about Cruz. "And I have pointed out that if someone is going to say they are consistent, they need to be consistent. One of the things that I feel I have brought to this race is that nobody has caught me saying something different in New York than I say in Sioux Center."
O'Reilly said, "You are a straight-talking guy. Look, you said about Cruz, how can you be a rabid Christian if you don't give any money to charity? That's a pretty tough statement."
"I didn't say that about Cruz. I was asked a question generally," Huckabee defended.
And I said I don't think you can put God last in your budget if you claim he is first in your life. I was talking about me. Look, the fact is Christian stewardship is something I believe in. I believed in it when my wife and I were dirt poor and living in a $40-a-month-rent house.

Thanks. Huck’s right :)
Now there’s the real Preacher and he doesn’t mince words...he is right “God will judge us”....
Thanks for the semi obvious on that Gov.
What a hypocrite. What would Huckabee do? He was governor and he didn’t do anything but play in a rock band and act like Bill Clinton.
Yes, he is, but the “kill the messenger” crowd should be along shortly to take on Huckabee.
Unfortunately, Huckabee's the kind of guy that gives Baptist's the reputation the denomination has with many: "holier than thou!"
Bringing up a charge, then saying "but I'm not going to judge him for it" after you just did, smacks of the hypocrisy that keeps people from going to church!
I think they are already here ;)
:)
Everytime I hear about Mike Huckabee these days, he’s pictured wagging his finger at somebody, accusing them of doing the wrong thing. Is trolling and nagging the main engine of your so called campaign, Mike? Accentuate the positive once in a while, why don’t you?
Thanks for starting all these great threads! I have always enjoyed listening to Huckabee; I just wasn’t convinced he was a winning candidate.
:)
What kind of a stupid thing is that to say. Huckabee is a joke wasting people's time.
Huckpocrisy.
You didn’t intend this as an anti-Cruz thread did you?
If so then....
FAIL!
I REALLY am tired of Huckabee being in the race.
That said, I equally dislike that we report our charitable donations to the federal government because of this reason.
Jesus said it was important to give without anyone knowing what you give. Not even your own right hand. Giving should be secret, between you and the Heavenly Father.
Huck should have left it at that.
They’re here...
LOL
Huckabee IS right about this.
Too bad that Cruz isn’t as up front as he is about things.
Not a Huckabee fan but that was the correct response.
