Pierson, a founder of the Garland tea party and an adviser to Cruz’s 2012 Senate campaign, said she hadn’t received an offer from the Cruz campaign, and that Trump campaign “approached me with an amazing opportunity†after she defended him several times in the media.
Pierson unsuccessfully challenged U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Dallas, in the 2014 GOP primary. When she did, Cruz’s father, Rafael, endorsed her. Ted Cruz called her an “utterly fearless†conservative, but stopped short of formally endorsing her.
So a Cruz advisor at the time she made the comment, but now it’s relevant three years later.
