The fact that every national poll shows Trump leading by double digits. In almost every state poll he is also leading, although a few show the race closer between Trump and Cruz. The latest polls I’ve seen from IA show Trump leading again.
With every candidate but Trump showing significant weakness in the polls, it has to take a psychological toll on them and their supports.
Will those supporting weak candidates bother to even show up to vote or caucus, or will they decide to switch their votes to a stronger candidate or to the one they think is most likely to win.
If one candidate wins 3 out the first 4 contests, the bandwagon effect will most likely kick in and more and more people will vote for the winning candidate instead of wasting time voting for someone who doesn’t have much chance of winning.
