To demonstrate he’s the best one for the job of going against them, maybe? Is’t that kinda what the Primay is for? To pick an opponent for their pick in the general?
Win the primary by scorched earth tactics to a degree you lose the consultation support of you primary opponent’s supporters is a good way to lose the general.

I don’t understand their logic at all. The fact that Cruz doesn’t have the stomach to fight Trump (who is beating him) is further proof that he is totally unequipped to fight the Clinton Machine and Leftist Media in the election. He seems to labor under a delusion that the election will be settled by a cleanly-run debate where his alleged “epic mad debate skillz” will come into play.
