Is that a change from a hard-line immigration position, or an endorsement of it? The deport-then-immigrate position has long been the hard-line position on immigration on the Right, although it does have one twist thatâs outside the orthodoxy. Donald Trump explained this to CNNâs Dana Bash in an exclusive interview last night, along with his thoughts on health care, which are decidedly less hard-line:

Since the Cruzbots on the forum keep posting basically the same articles over and over again (this one even going as far back as July to do it), I figure I’ll just keep posting evidence that Ted Cruz is a liar when it comes to immigration:
Ted Cruz on his support for legalization of illegals, which he now lies about never supporting. All quotes with sources can be found here:

1) âAnd Iâd like to make a final point to those advocacy groups that are very engaged in this issue and rightly concerned about addressing our immigration system, and in particular about addressing the situation for the 11 million who are currently in the shadows. If this amendment is adopted to the current bill the effect would be that those 11 million under this current bill would still be eligible for RPI status. [Registered Provisional Immigrant] They would still be eligible for legal status and indeed under the terms of the bill they would be eligible for LPR status as well [Lawful Permanent Resident], so that they are out of the shadows, which the proponents of this bill repeatedly point to as their principle objective â to provide a legal status for those who are here illlegally to be out of the shadows. This amendment would allow that to happen.
And a second point to those advocacy groups that are so passionately engaged. In my view if this committee rejects this amendment, and I think everyone here views it as quite likely this committee will choose to reject this amendment, in my view that decision will make it much, much more likely that this entire bill will fail in the House of Representantives. I donâââ‰â¢t want immigration reform to fail. I want immigration reform to pass, and so I would urge people of good faith on both sides of the aisle, if the objective is to pass common sense immigration reform that secures the borders, that improves legal immigration, and that allows those who are here illegally to come in out of the shadows, then we should look for areas of bipartisan agreement and compromise to come together and this amendment âI believe if this amendment were to pass the chances of this bill passing into law would increase dramatically, and so I would urge the committee to give it full consideration and to adopt the amendment.â
2)âThe American people are overwhelmingly unified that, number one, we need to secure the border,â he added. âAnd, number two, any bill that this body passes should have border security first and then legalization, not the other way around.â
3) From the Texas Tribune in September of 2013:
âWhat Mr. Cruz has tried to articulate in both word and deed is a middle ground. It got no support from Democrats in Washington, but it goes further than many on the far right want to go by offering leniency to undocumented immigrants here already...
Asked about what to do with the people here illegally, however, he stressed that he had never tried to undo the goal of allowing them to stay.
âThe amendment that I introduced removed the path to citizenship, but it did not change the underlying work permit from the Gang of Eight,â he said during a recent visit to El Paso. Mr. Cruz also noted that he had not called for deportation or, as Mitt Romney famously advocated, self-deportation.â
4) In March 2015
âAsked by msnbc about where Cruz stands now on legalization, campaign spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said that the senator has been âconsistentâ and confirmed that the views he expressed in the Tribune had not changed. She described his amendment to the Senate âgang of eightâ bill as an effort âto improve a very bad billâ that he ultimately opposed.
While Frazier said Cruz fought the billâs path to citizenship because it âflies in the face of the rule of law,â she declined to apply the same label when asked about legal status in the right circumstances.
âI think his main priority is dealing with the border security component and making sure that we know who is coming into the country and making sure that we have control over who is coming into the country and then we can deal with what to do with the people who are already here,â she said.
6) Chuck Todd Interview after March 2015
CHUCK TODD: You still didnât say what youâd do with the 11 million.
TED CRUZ: Well, my view is first, we secure the borders and solve the problem of illegal immigration. And then I think we can have a conversation about what to do about the people who remain here. I donâââ‰â¢t think the American people will accept any solution until we demonstrate step number one, we can secure the border.
CHUCK TODD: So anythingâs on the table? Potentially deportation or not deportation, but anythingâs on the table for the 11 millionâ
TED CRUZ: I think we should secure the border and then have a conversation at that point. Stop using the Washington approach of Iâll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today. The American people arenât going for it.

Your point is? Are you denying this is donnie’s position?
Damn communists liberal arses that lie only reinforces my resolve for Trump. Trump for President.
Why would I even bother engaging in a thread with a topic that has been posted more than a dozen times over the past week or two and has been engaged with hundreds of times on this forum going back 5 or 6 months?
Are you hoping for a different outcome from all the other threads?
The Trump haters on FR are out in mass today. I guess once Cruz accept his VP offer they will chill out a bit:-)
TRUMP: Undocumented Workers Can Stay ... BUT ONLY IF THEY WORK HARD
Thanks for being Logical again.
Again Eric Defends his father and expediting their return.
“Trump supports amnesty.
On the Kelly File Thursday, Trump’s son Eric expressed frustration that the media overlooks this:
The point isn’t just deporting them, it’s deporting them and letting them back in legally. He’s been so clear about that and I know the liberal media wants to misconstrue it, but its deporting them and letting them back legally.
Eric Trump is right. His father has been crystal clear that he wants all the illegals to return and live in America.
Listen closely to what Trump is actually proposing. In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash earlier this year, Trump explained his plan this way:
I would get people out and then have an expedited way of getting them back into the country so they can be legalâ¦. A lot of these people are helping us ⦠and sometimes it’s jobs a citizen of the United States doesn’t want to do. I want to move ‘em out, and we’re going to move ‘em back in and let them be legal. (emphasis mine)
This is a policy called “touchback” and it was first proposed in 2007 by moderate Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (TX). She offered a “touchback” amendment on the Senate floor that would have required illegal immigrants to return to their home countries to apply for a special “Z visa” that would allow them to reenter the United States in an expedited fashion and work here indefinitely.
Her amendment lost by a relatively close margin, 53-45. It was supported by most Republicans and even got five Democratic votes - Sens. Claire McCaskill, Max Baucus, Jon Tester, Byron Dorgan and John Rockefeller all voted for it.” (273 word count)

Getting tired of defending Trump’s position on this, are ya’?
I can’t seem to find any of your posts lamenting over the multitude of Cruz birther article posts. Maybe the search function is down. Could you help me out?
Well, Logical me/you, your logic has failed you. In Trump’s own words:
âI actually have a big heart, a lot of people donât understand that. The DREAMers, itâs a tough situation. One of the things is weâre going to EXPEDITE â when someoneâs terrific, we want them back here. But they have to be legal.â http://www.thepoliticalinsider.com/boom-donald-trump-announces-5-point-plan-about-illegal-immigration/
“Trump said Wednesday in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash that as president he would deport all undocumented immigrants and then allow the “good ones” to reenter the country through an “expedited process” [there’s that word again] and live in the U.S. legally, though not as citizens. “Legal status,” Trump suggested. “We got to move ‘em out, we’re going to move ‘em back in if they’re really good people.” http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/29/politics/donald-trump-immigration-plan-healthcare-flip-flop/
And finally: âI would EXPEDITE it because some of these people are fantastic people. Iâve been to the border. I was there a few days ago. I met some people. These are fantastic people, and they have great reputations within their community. So, what Iâd do is Iâd EXPEDITE it. But, you have to have laws. If you donât have laws, you donât have a country. I would get them out and try and â the good ones. And the bad ones, theyâre gone. They never come back. Theyâll never get back into this country. But, the good ones, of which there are many, I want to EXPEDITE it so they can come back in legally.â If you’d like to actually hear him say it, there’s a video here: http://www.breitbart.com/video/2015/07/27/trump-id-expedite-legal-immigration-process-for-good-illegals-after-getting-them-out/
Of course you didn't. I believe Ted Cruz is ineligible!
It is called “green cards”.
Trump has been pretty unwavering on his immigration stance. And I have a feeling that the big beautiful door is going to be a lot bigger going out than coming in. :-)
You miss the point.
They need to go to the back of the quota line, which takes about 5 or 10 years, and wait for their green card.
They should not be expedited back in.
Totally agree...Illegals go out the door, the good ones get in line.....
Trump never said expedite their return. This is a damn lie.

What Trump actually said was:
“But the good ones — of which there are many — I want to expedite it so they can come back in legally.” (July 27)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2015/08/17/20-times-donald-trump-has-changed-his-mind-since-june/
Like you said, it is a... oops.
Trumets are going to richly deserve getting stabbed in the back again and again and again. It’s so easy to see through the guy.
Funny, but Cruz won’t be his VP choice. Remember Cruz isn’t eligible to be President, is a nasty human being who no one likes, and is worse than Hillary. Trump wants to make deals with the Democrats, and Cruz isn’t good at making deals because everyone hates him.
Maybe Hillary’ll be Trump’s choice for VP. That or one of Trump’s establishment buddies like Mitch McConnell.
The first ones to be “expedited” back in will be the illegals that have been working for him all these years.
