Of course Germany is a great place to live! Pretty much all the buildings were built in 1946 or later! Everything is new!

I guess cost of living, gun rights and private property rights were not considered ranking.

RE: Does this mean we’re going to have another World War to get to #1?

If it takes a disaster of that magnitude, perhaps. But it’s going to take many generations to bounce back.

That’s what happened to Germany.

Gun Rights, even if they were to consider this as a factor will LOWER your score.

Depends on who you’re asking the question to.

If you want “free” ( (note the quotes ), single-payer healthcare, Canuckistan will be it.

Surveys like this drive magazine sales, but are meaningless. What are the trends? How are the criteria defined? How are criteria weighted? Is the rating from the point of view of citizens or non-citizens?

What about geographical areas? For example, there are placed in the US that are worse than most countries. Are those areas excluded or averaged in?

And the range of scores for the top 10 are only 3 points from 91 to 94. What is the margin of error?

More meaningful would be a report putting nations into groups, and giving the strengths, weaknesses, and trends of each. But that wouldn't drive magazine sales.

I think the barbarian muzzl’em rapist ‘refugees’ must have stuffed the ballot box for Germany.

My English born and raised wife now says Britain is a nice place to visit, but she wouldn't want to live there. Just not enough room for her.

Actually, after several visits to Britain, it is a very nice place to visit. But I was too cramped. Give me the wide open spaces of America please.

Based on the questions, the US is 4th because we're not liberal enough

There are (unfortunately) large numbers of Americans who base quality of life on what gov. does for them. They just don't get America. The ideal country is one where gov. has as little influence on your life as possible.

We've got too much gov. meddling here, but it's nothing like European "paradises."

This only works if you consider socialist tyranny a plus.
