It may be worse than that. I’ve met quite a few people who came her on tourist visas and worked ‘under the table.’ They would adhere to the 6 month rule and leave the country twice per year. They stuck to the schedule but were illegal aliens based on their violation of the terms of their visas prohibiting work. Some even owned houses and voted here. Who knows how many there are like that.
