If my fellow Americans want to vote for someone who bows and scrapes to the “gimme” class, they deserve what they get.

Gov. Brandstad could very well shore up Trump’s ground game. More power to him — but don’t let me hear any more of this “Trump tells it like it is. Trump doesn’t pander” crap. This is outright pandering to Big Corn.

I am not the biggest Cruz fan overall, but this is sickening to see how Iowa essentially will stab the nation in the back so willingly every time.
They would back anyone who required Americans to eat 3 servings of corn a day and who would outlaw wheat.

A very low life state. Awful that they always come first for some bizzare reason.

I’m so sick of the f***ing GOPe motherf***ers. No these people are arming up to Trump. They are in “Anybody But Cruz Mode”

By the way, Trump is our 0bama. A brash loudmouthed bully with a cult like following that will follow is every command. He’s a fraud and how anyone can not see it is beyond me.

“BIG CORN roars. I support Trump but this is revolting.

I’m right with you. Hard to respect Iowa so openly willing to accept to harm the country in any way they can if it sells corn. They are a back country version of the crap we criticize in Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and others that do not put their country first.

OH come on Branstad is for ethanol just like Texan Cruz is for the Oil industry. Would Branstad be looking out for his state to not want to get rid of a guy who could hurt Iowa’s economy.

On Trump he is for Oil, Fracking, ethanol etc. since he wants low cost energy a key requirement for manufacturing renaissance in America, and also, energy independence so we don’t have to import Arabian oil and don’t have to have American troops acting like mercenaries for people like the Saudis.

Doesn't the Left hate Branstad for refusing to grow government and for keeping the budget balanced?

The Left hates him and calls him "Braindead" because he has an R after his name.

Lately, they also hate him for closing a couple of the state's antiquated mental health facilities, vetoing the allocation of one-time (as opposed to sustainable) funds for K-12 education, and putting the wheels in motion to privatize Medicaid.

Iowa law requires the balanced budget. Republicans are somewhat less likely to cook the books to make that happen.

There’s looking out for your state and then there’s government propping up businesses. Cruz does not support oil subsidies either

[ Plain and simple Gov. Terry Branstad is an ethanol gibmedat. Will we ever be rid of this evil ethanol?

One small state - Iowa - hold the rest of the nation hostage to ethanol. ]

I really loathe those in conservative farming country that have a corn cob stuck up where the sun don’t shine that they would sell their own children to keep their precious ethanol subsidies...

Yeah, this is old time Iowa caucus politics. Another data point that Trump is going all in to win Iowa. He’s ruthless. I bet the Chicoms watching this right now are pooping bricks.

Hard to respect Iowa so openly willing to accept to harm the country in any way they can if it sells corn. They are a back country version of the crap we criticize in Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and others that do not put their country first.

Or maybe, just maybe, Iowa doesn't believe ethanol harms the country.

For thirty or forty years now, Iowans have been told ethanol contributes to "energy independence" and clean air. Plus, it keeps more $ at home instead of funding the jihad. So, if anything, Iowans are more likely to believe ethanol is good for the country.

Also, when they hear anyone suggest it harms engines or causes higher food and/or gasoline prices, they tend to give such claims the same respect most of us give to the alleged science behind global warming (possibly because the evidence is similarly lacking).

Personally, I have no ties with or against ethanol. Whenever the price at the pump has it delivering more miles-per-dollar than gasoline, I buy it. Otherwise, I don't. But, I'd like to see ALL subsidies and government support for ethanol and oil go away, including the Renewable Fuel Standard. Politicians and bureaucrats shouldn't be picking winners and losers. (Among other things, that encourages corruption.)

But I must admit, I'm curious... How does ethanol "harm the country"?

Do you know how many posters told me yesterday that conservatism wasn’t the deciding issue in the primary because we had to “save the country first”? It was mind boggling.

Absolutely INSANE.. we've gone mad!!

When the stakes have never been higher, the Stupid has never been greater. Conservatives have been crushed by the establishment, so conservatives are going to pay them back by supporting the oligarch.

Why do you find this revolting but didn't find Trump openly attacking conservatives and what we stand for from the campaign stage. The ethanol mandate is just another in a long list of his big government credentials. In fact if the ethanol issue were the only thing to be concerned about it Trump I'd feel much better about him than I do.
