The biggest story in America today is the roaring return of Andrew Jackson's spirit into the political debate.
Not since he fought with Nicholas Biddle over the future of the Bank of the United States has Andrew Jackson been this controversial or this central in American political life. Jacksonian populism, the sense of honor-driven egalitarianism and fiery nationalism that drove American politics for many years, has never been hated and reviled as often as it is today, and many American academics and intellectuals (to say nothing of Hollywood icons) are close to demanding that Jacksonian sentiment be redefined as a hate crime.
For President Barack Obama and his political allies in particular, Jacksonian America is the father of all evils. Jacksonians are who the then Senator had in mind when, in the campaign of 2008, he spoke of the 'bitter clingers' holding on to their guns and their Bibles. They are the source of the foreign policy instincts he most deplores, supporting Israel almost reflexively, demanding overwhelming response to terror attacks, agitating for tight immigration controls, resisting diplomacy with Iran and North Korea, supporting Guantanamo, cynical about the UN, skeptical of climate change, and willing to use 'enhanced interrogation' against terrorists in arms against the United States.
[snip]
Virtually everything about progressive politics today is about liquidating the Jacksonian influence in American life. From immigration policy, touted as ending the era when American whites were the population of the United States, to gun policy and to regulatory policy, President Obama and his coalition aim to crush what Jacksonians love, empower what they fear, and exalt what they hate.

You got it.
Millions of PO’d bailed and became Independents over the last decade or so, and millions more who just stopped voting in total disgust. Most were former Republicans.
This could be a historical landslide coming.
People are just fed up with lying professional politicians of both parties. I’m not playing their game again. I’m going to try something different. Donald Trump.
More like Teddy Roosevelt.
look him up...
He’s not different..we have had them run before..
Perot lost, but Teddy won. Did a lot of damage to the republican party. Turned them into progressives,
"Did everyone in this tent buy a ticket and peanuts"?!?!
Sign him up and offer him 10% of the gate, let him know we still have 57 cities on the tour.
I knew an Old Timey, Clawhammer banjo player who was from so far south in New Jersey that culturally his home was south of the Mason Dixon line. He was in the Navy, at Norfolk, some Limey sailors came into a bar, Jersey-Dixie immediately commenced with The Battle of New Orleans, as you can hear here in Old Timey Clawhammer style, it may have originated in that milieu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeQMYrSUwlg Unfortunately, a banjar makes an excellent club for a barroom brawl.
Old Andy Jackson brazenly stood up to the British, but his real forte was standing up to the banks; the Creature from Jeckyll Island was thus beaten back for generations. (Old Honest Abe may have been done in by its European relatives.)
It was complained about that some of Andy’s guests at his Inauguration actually urinated in the White House, perhaps not the worst thing that’s been done there with that human member.
Andy Jackson is supposed to have shut down the Supreme Court after Worcester v. Georgia (1832) with the remark “John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it!” (Nixon could have done as much with Roe v. Wade 1973, but he partially supported it, so much for “Conservatism”.)
The Donald ain’t no Andy Jackson. What he will actually do with his possible or likely Presidency is a complete black box. The grandstanding may conceal nefarious doings below the bleachers. Hold onto your wallet.
Andrew Jackson was a homicidal maniac.
I made sure he was dead.
Yep - because they rememebr and understand another part of the article:
Jacksonians are who the then Senator had in mind when, in the campaign of 2008, he spoke of the 'bitter clingers' holding on to their guns and their Bibles.
Too many "on our side" seem to forget how anti-Constitutional, how rabidly pro-killing of innocent babies because no woman should be so burdened, how rabidly pro-homosexual Obama is and how the same can be said for Hillary or Bernie - they see some flaws and forget about the cesspool that they allowed to inhabit the WH for 8 years.
They call their actions "principled".....ironic how their principles seem to aid and abet those they should hate the most.
Say what you will but Andy knew how to throw a real shin dig of a party!
