Obviously, the word conservative here has a different meaning than Americans understand. Is there something Americans would understand as conservative in Germany?

They don’t have anything close to a USA conservative in western Europe.

The entire region/area just bubbles in militant socialism, until they need rescued from themselves by outside forces.
