GameStop to close its Puerto Rico stores

(English translation)

The GameStop video-game stores in Puerto Rico will close.

The United States-based company confirmed the closure as it pointed out that the decision was made due to the government's high taxes which it alleges have affected its operations in the island.

It was reported that, unfortunately, over 500 employees will be laid off.

According to GameStop's Public Relations Director, they will leave Puerto Rico as early as March.

I gotta wonder how the Tartak properties are doing in Puerto Rico? The Tartak family owns possibly the most real estate there and you see the Tartak name everywhere. Even places where you don't see the name such as our car rental place near the airport. The car rental guy told us that not only did Tartak own their property but most of the property surrounding the airport.

Anyway, I knew the ORIGINAL Mr. Tartak when I was a kid because he was a friend of my father. One thing I remember well is attending the wedding of his daughter where at the reception they served the BEST shis-ke-bab I ever ate. I think it was also the first time I ate shish-ke-bab.

Well that’ll help the tax revenues.

Guess they’ll have to go shoplift their video games someplace else.
