With all due respect to Sen. Sanders, low-information Sanders has once again shown why he is an excellent example why the ill-conceived 17th Amendment should never have been ratified.

What Sanders does not understand is that he is unthinkingly basing his vote-winning campaign promises on constitutionally non-existent federal government powers. In other words, Sanders wants to use the Oval Office as an excuse to steal 10th Amendment-protected state powers and state revenues uniquely associated with those powers.

In fact, note that a previous generation of state sovereignty-respecting justices had clarified that the feds are prohibited from appropriating taxes in the name of state power issues, essentially any issue that Congress cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.
