The lawyer for the main suspect in the death of an American in Florence, Italy said Thursday his client fought with the woman after they had sex and did drugs but that he left her alive on her bed and had no intention of killing her.
Attorney Antonio Voce told The Associated Press that Cheik Tidiane Diaw, a 27-year-old illegal immigrant from Senegal, reacted badly when Ashley Olsen tried to push him out of her apartment after they had consensual sex in the early hours of Jan. 8.
Olsen's body was found the following day. Prosecutors say she suffered fatal head injuries and was strangled.
Voce said Diaw punched Olsen in the neck and pushed her to the ground, where she hit her head, after she pushed him twice. He said Diaw helped her up and left her on the bed, but never strangled her and had no intention of killing her.
Chief Prosecutor Giuseppe Creazzo told a news conference that DNA traces found on a condom, a cigarette butt and under Olsen's fingernails matched that of the suspect, who arrived in Italy a few months ago.

Investigators also said Diaw had taken Olsen's cell phone, put his own SIM card in it and used it
I guess he has a lawyer now.
I’m betting that sex was not consensual, I’d also put good money that he beat her to death for having the nerve to refuse him.
Parents ; bring up your daughters better , so they are never inclined to throw caution to the wind and lead an immoral life . The wages of sin is death .
I don't believe consensual. I don't believe she was still alive. But I do believe he did drugs.
Illegal immigrant meet’s soft (sleazy girl) target - bad things happen.
“Olsen, originally from Summer Haven, Florida, had been living in Florence for three years as an active member of the expatriate community and art scene.”
Ah yes wannabe Hipsters .... otherwise known as victims.
Yet another murdering moozlum liar.
I’m not fully buying the consensual part of this just yet.
It could be true sure, but if not, then the media is smearing the victim and torturing her grieving boyfriend. They shouldn’t be so eager to save their tourism industry.

I think you’re most likely right and you’d win your bet IF the Italian authorities let the whole truth come out. Remember, this is the same Italy which persecuted Amanda Know perpetually although the DNA evidence was firm that she was killed (and likely raped) by the Black African who eventually was convicted of the death.
If you learn about this woman, you will see that she was a drug addicted freak. There is evidence she set up this meeting with the guy.
If there is any doubt, it is that maybe, just maybe, her boyfriend of many years finally grew tired of it, and then just killed her instead of performing CPR.
I didn’t see the “evidence” that she was arranging a meeting with this guy. Her friends said that she got into a disagreement at the club with a woman and they left her their alone. The bar staff said that she left alone. The CCTV footage of them together is at her front door.
So, I’m not seeing anything that is telling me they even new each other.
wondering if the BF had an alibi for the entire night, eg out of town and used public transportation in and out with video and/or tickets...
The cops said this morning that he had a very good alibi and proof of his whereabouts.
My guess is that the African illegal alien probably used drugs sale or usage to get into her dwelling, then escalated to the rape/murder stage. He’s already caught in a lie — he beat her savagely, then strangled her to finish her off. Death penalty needed ASAP for what he has admitted alone.
Probably raped her then killed her.
if tv is correct, you don’t go from zero to rape and murder without some intermediate stages. no record in this case may simply mean never got caught.
highly dangerous dude imho.
