Wednesday on the Fox News Channelâs âSpecial Report,â Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer weighed in on the Democratic side of the president primary race. Despite Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) showing strength against Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton in Iowa and New Hampshire, Krauthammer was skeptical of Sanders chances beyond that and predicted it would be FBI director James Comey who has the final say in Clintonâs chances beyond the early primaries.

Maybe. Maybe not.
Inevitable Hillary kicked off her 2008 campaign by finishing THIRD in the Iowa caucuses, but limped in the end to have slightly more primary votes than Obama. Party insider superdelegates then kicked her to the curb to lock it up for Osama.
As long as Bernie wins one of three primaries...I think numbers-wise, with the super-delegates...he could still win at the convention. It’ll be curious to see if Hillary can win in Florida or throughout the south.
Krauthammer keeps losing credibility. He actually praised Nikki Haley’s lifeless, clenched-jaw rebuttal that was no rebuttal.
Kraut is right. It depends on whether Comey publicly states his objection to AG Lynch’s private decision to decline prosecution.
Just saying, sinking Hillary isn't the same thing as deciding the final outcome. It merely removes one option.
You have to assume that Obama detests the Clintons, both for what they did and said in the 2008 campaign, but now, with a Clinton in the WH in 2016, Obama has zero influence in the Dem party..so, he can easily solve that little problem
It all depends on whether Teflon Hillary is brought to trial for her crimes.
The FBI may be too optimistic to believe that they can manage that.
I assume DoJ is completely in Obama’s control, as it has been since he took office. AG Lynch isn’t going to do anything on this that Obama doesn’t direct.
So then, the real question is whether Obama is able to influence Comey, and would he? The concept in play is that of “mutually assured destruction” (remember the cold war and ours vs. USSR’s nukes?).
If Obama controls Comey (seems possible), then Obama giving the green light on a criminal referral to the DoJ means Hillary will never be President. If an indictment occurs, Hillary would then undoubtedly unload on Obama - and you know she knows a lot (like where the “stand-down” order came from, or what Obama was doing the night of Benghazi). She might even know of impeachable offenses.
So, if Obama CAN control Comey, then Obama has to decide if a criminal referral sent to the DoJ, and subsequent indictment, is worth the risk to his own reputation and legacy, should Hillary go nuclear. If he can’t control Comey, even if Hillary believes he can’t, she still might burn down the house.
My guess? UNBELIEVABLE pressure on Comey to hold back, as it’s the only way Obama comes out unscathed.
Seems by Obama’s SOTU campaign commercial he is going to get Biden the nomination. Hillary is toast.
I’m tellin’ ya, Bernie is for REAL.
Whenever I am around groups of people under 30 the excitement is GENUINE and it’s REAL.
That seems absurd and incredulous to all of us here....but it’s true.
This generation has concluded that Free College is a pretty cool idea and it’s time for the US to scrap capitalism and try something new. Bernie is their guy, and he is going to do shockingly well.
It was the same with Howard Dean, this too shall pass.
And Hussein will ultimately direct what the FBI Director directs.
It was more a supplement than a rebuttal.
The server in the closet may already be the straw that broke the camels back
Hillarys moment in the sun may now be a sunset
Charles' is playing useful idiot here, pretending that the gov still has credibility- it doesn't.
LBJ was the sitting president, and his renomination was a foregone conclusion. Sound familiar? What happened? Gene McCarthy won New Hampshire - and LBJ decided he was too busy running the Vietnam War and “accordingly I will not seek - nor will I accept - the nomination of my party for a second term as president of the United States.”
McCarthy did not win the 1968 New Hampshire primary. He dramatically ‘outperformed expectations’.
You are absolutely right - which only makes the point stronger. The point is that inevitability can be a real burden to meet expectations.
At this point, the selfies that Hillary! took standing over the still-warm corpse of Vince Foster could surface and it wouldn’t make any difference. If she gets elected, she’ll be the first president in history to grant herself a pardon.
