Ted Cruz explains the non-story about his Goldman Sachs loan – [VIDEO]
The Right Scoop ^ | Jan 14, 2016 | The Right Scoop

When you’re at the top the attacks come at you from everywhere. In this case it was a NY Times article that, as Levin suggested last night, was fed to them by some Republican operative working for another campaign. But just like the Trump-ed up birther story, it’s another non-story.

Ted Cruz explains below:

Ted Cruz explains Goldman Sachs loan (Video)

It’s no surprise that Ted Cruz is actually human and makes errors like the rest of us. As he said, the loan against his assets has been disclosed in a variety of other ways so it’s not something he’s been trying to hide. And he’ll amend the filing to fix that should the reports be correct.

There is no conspiracy here. Cruz was going up against Dewhurst who was spending millions upon millions of dollars. It takes money to compete at this level and Cruz was certainly the underdog.

So as I said, nothing to see here. If this is all they have against Cruz, if this is all the dirt they can find on him, then this ‘smoking gun’ is nothing more than a broken water pistol.

Hillary 2016 will have a great campaign ad from this “non-story”.

The issue is not that Cruz needed money but that he did not disclose a loan from Goldman/Sachs. Made to his wife. On his behalf.

Not to worry! Ted Cruz will wipe the floor with Donald Trump’s hair tonight! This will all be over by tomorrow! Ted Cruz will really surge in the polls to make up the 20% points he trails behind Donald Trump! Trump’s crowds will shrink to nothing and it will be Ted Cruz who is filling the 10,000 - 20,000 seat arenas! GO! TED!

Cruz told the people of Texas during that he was raiding the last pennies in his piggy bank for his grass roots campaign while in reality it was Government Sachs’ pile of cash. Really, this isn’t a difficult one. Cruz is busted and this is a huge hit on his credibility.

There are an awful lot of “non-stories” piling up here. At some point, the broken water-pistol analogy won’t work any longer. It seems clear Cruz is less than truthful and has been as far back as his Senate campaign.

That means he works for Goldman also. At this point I wonder if Goldman makes their employees marry politicians so they can have an insider power.

Actually, your credibility is busted.

It’s the typical lib move from the people who aren’t Conservatives but are Celebritives. Use innuendo when you don’t have anything valid. “Gee, I didn’t say he wasn’t a Natural Born Citizen. I just said I don’t know.” “Gee, I don’t know if getting a loan against YOUR OWN FREAKING MONEY is against the rules. We’ll just have to see.”

They can’t beat you in the arena of ideas (at least ideas they’ve consistently said for years but instead have said for a couple of months) so they have to use innuendo that they know is false to paint an equally false picture.

Also, enough with this corn pone New York values BS.

Heidi also attended harvard business school, and then went to work for Goldman Sachs, which has its headquarters in New York City.

Cruz graduated from Harvard and Princeton - he did not go to some small Southern Evangelical college.

And as shocking as this may seem to my Southern brothers: Some parts of New York are more conservative than the South with less divorce and less out of wedlock births and these days less crime and have been voting Republican longer than some in the South have been.

That is all Cruz has is theoretical ideas. How many businesses has he had? Has he had to meet payroll week in and out?

Cruz has been a govt employee almost all his adult life - ironic since he runs as a limited govt conservative.

Since it was a loan it was still his money. This wasn’t a grant.

Hillary is known for ridiculous hyperbole, but she would have to be a female Houdini to make anything significant out of this "story."

The big investment banks have often been on the wrong side of social issues; that does not make any point at all against Cruz or his wife. They have been straight forward in what they advocate. Trying to play to an anti-bank paranoia discredits those who play that game; not a principled candidate.

Well if Ted had been given millions of dollars by his daddy maybe he would have gone in to business. Instead he argued for the people multiple times, and WON multiple times, in front of the Supreme Court instead of “negotiating deals” with every crooked politician on the east coast.

I prefer someone that fights for us not someone that fights to take our property via eminent domain.

It doesn’t help, though. I wish Cruz, who ordinarily doesn’t make mistakes like this, had been more careful.

There are enough lies about the best constitutional conservative candidate in thirty years flying around without this adding to it all.

Cruz supporters such as myself rightly accuse Trumpbots of hypocrisy over this issue since there is no bigger crony capitalist in the world than Donald Trump. But still, it’s a mistake that should never have been made.

Legal or not, correct or not, Cruz risks being thrown off message at a very important time. There are enough people on this site who hate constitutional conservatives already. Enabling them is not something Cruz should do.
