SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE

SWIM CALL

U.S. Navy sailors and Marines participate in a swim call off the stern gate of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde to celebrate the 121st birthday of the chief petty officer rank in the Arabian Sea, April 1, 2014. The Mesa Verde, with the embarked 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed to support maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.


AMPHIBIOUS OPERATIONS

Korean and U.S. Marines traverse the shoreline aboard amphibious assault vehicles during Ssang Yong 2014 on Doksoek-ri in Pohang, South Korea, March 31, 2014. The annual exercise is conducted to enhance the interoperability of Korean and U.S. forces by performing a full spectrum of amphibious operations.

HELICOPTER ARRIVAL

U.S. Marines await a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter during a U.S.-France bilateral exercise in Djibouti, April 25, 2014. The Marines, assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 22, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, are deployed with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout the U.S. Central Command and U.S. 5th Fleet areas of responsibility.


HORIZON SCAN

Jordan, an E-3B sentry airborne warning and control system aircraft pilot, is assigned to the 968th Expeditionary Airborne Air Control Squadron.


HOMECOMING KISS

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Spencer Greer kisses his wife after the return of the guided-missile frigate USS Simpson to Mayport, FL, March 20, 2014, from a six-month deployment to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility. The Simpson conducted more than 700 flight hours and traveled more than 35,000 nautical miles to support regional and maritime security. Greer is an electronics technician.




HOIST TRAINING

An HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter hoists U.S. Air Force pararescuemen during a water rescue exercise near Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, March 20, 2014. The pararescuemen are assigned to the 82nd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron. The training helps airmen stay proficient in water rescue skills.


NIGHT FIRE

The soldiers are assigned to the 10th Mountain Division's 71st Calvary Regiment, Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
