Land based nuclear missiles, sea based nuclear missiles (on submarines), and land based bombers that carry and deliver nukes.

It's inside the Pentagon/Beltway talk for the three features of America's nuclear arsenal. Bombers, ICBM’s and Submarines. It is a distribution of these three nuclear platforms that make up the Nuclear triad.

I am not certain how important any one of them is as opposed to the others. However, lots of hawks babble incessantly about the need to keep all three at top levels.

an obsolete strategic concept mainly intended to contain inter-service rivalries from the 1960’s-80’s.

Reading, and reading comprehension should be an important first qualifier to running for President. Since you are not running, you may be forgiven.

Trump for all his supposed education, and intelligence sure screwed up not know what the nuclear triad is. Has he really been living in America all his life?

Yeb! is still a bore, even with his witticisms against Anita Trump.

Nuclear triad refers to the three ways to deliver nuclear bomps — ICBMs, bombers, submarine(missiles).

I was familiar with the concept because I read article in NR many years ago where it was mentioned. That was the only time and place I have saw the term mentioned.

Redundancy and flexibility in our nuclear options.

Bombers good for sabre-rattling, may be called back if anyone changes their mind, basically suicide missions for the crews in light of today’s SAM threats.

Land based missiles need to be either First Strike or quick Second Strike since their silo locations are known and current missile guidance is very accurate.

Submarine launched are the real basis for M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction). You never know where they all are and they can get really close to your coastline, if necessary. Of sourse, they have very good range these days, also.
