The share of Americans identifying as a Democrat dropped to a record low in 2015, according to the latest Gallup results published Monday, in the latest indication that Americans' attachment to either political party is at or nearing historical lows.
Overall, 42 percent over the course of the last year identified as independents, a slight drop from the 43 percent who identified as such in 2014. While Democrats maintained a small advantage over Republicans — 29 percent to 26 percent — the Democratic share is at its lowest in Gallup history.

Precisely! The elite members of the uniparty - elected and unelected - created this phenomenon. The rise of the outsiders and the exodus from “both” parties are but symptoms of the environment created by principle-devoid politicians who will do and say anything to get elected and the “I have a pen and a phone” (”I/we will do what we want, so screw you!”) political culture.

This is the nightmare scenario for the Democrats-—large segments of their fragile coalition defecting to become Trump Democrats. Low income and union whites are already beginning to defect over the ‘complete transormation of America’ that Obama brought into their party as a goal. They are just now beginning to realize that their American values are being trashed by Obama and their elitists leaders. How many of them are “bitter, clinging to their religion and guns.”?
The mystery is the Democrats recent affection for Muslims. Resolutions in Congress to protect Muslims from hate speech but nothing about the growing anti-Semitic sentiment against Jews in the extreme Left? If they think they will be able to replace the Jewish voting and financing component with Muslims in the Democrat coalition, they are completely looney-toon. And you cannot expect to hold the LGBT groups in the Dem coalition if the leaders in the Dem Party persist in this love affair with Muslims.
