Desperate, too.

I see this as one of two things. Either Trump wants Cruz as vp and is afraid of this issue or he’s having to handle Cruz with kid gloves and this is is last resort.

I tend to go with #1 because there’s something between these two. Cruz isn’t just laying off Trump because he’s afraid of him, he’s gone after any other’s who have hinted at attack.

And Trump isn’t exactly skewering Cruz. Granted the citizenship thing looks like a real hit but like I said, if Trump wants Cruz for vp, he needs to be sure. Anyway, IMHO

Either way, better now than if Cruz were to win. There would be hell to pay from the left.

My tolerance for Trump has been eroding and now it’s ended.

Mr Trump is trying to help Ted, yet all of Ted’s supporters have their panties in a bunch over this. What are they so worried about?

This is from a post to me in another related thread. The news clip is worth watching. This may be more of an issue than Ted Cruz wants to admit:

He said it would be risky to nominate Cruz "because you cannot put somebody there folks who's going to go in, and he's going to be immediately sued by the Democrats because they're saying he was born in Canada and he's not allowed to run for president."

Doesn't seem to have hurt Obama any. How many birther lawsuits were there during the campaign and his first year? A dozen? More?

On a hot July day this past summer, just after Trump rocketed to the top of the polls in shocking fashion, there was a mysterious meeting between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz in Trump's office on Fifth Avenue (Trump Tower).

I don't believe the purpose of that meeting was ever explained and I always found it odd that two candidates opposing each other for the nomination would have a meeting like that.

At that time, Trump was still seen as a non serious candidate who would soon be driven out and Ted Cruz was given no chance at all. All convention wisdom at that time had Jebbie Bush winning the nomination easily as he had all the resources and money of the GOP behind him.

Now Trump and Cruz are #1 and #2 in the polls and Jebbie Bush is nothing but a laughingstock along with the rest of the GOPe.

I still wonder what that meeting was all about.

I just watched the Laurence Tribe interview. Laurence Tribe just said that his former law student, Ted Cruz was wrong in stating that the issue is settled.

So sue him Mr. Trump! I guess someone has told you by now he can’t take it to court himself.
Why don’t you just say would you please quit so I can win?
More likely = Cruz you are a loser and idiot- why didn’t you go back to the USA to be born? Bet you’ll remember next time.
Trump is an idiot.

I posted this earlier today: Could be that Trump threw the birth certificate issue out there to give Cruz an opportunity to clear the fog early. Then he'd (Trump) have no obstacle in having Cruz as his running mate. It will save Trump time in the end.

If Trump’s lead is so YUGE...then why is he so worried about Cruz’s eligibility?

Maybe his lead isn’t so inevitable.

Its really simple. If Cruz doesnt want to address the issue, he cannot be a VP pick in the event that Trump gets the nomination.

If Cruz wins the nomination, thought the odds are less likely (http://www.gamblerspalace.com/lines/politics)

Then the Republicans at the Cleveland convention may have the opportunity and legal right to legitmately choose an alternative candidate. How do we think the Republican party will deal with this question? Will the Republican Party leave itself exposed to the potential challenge that Hillary may bring to the federal courts?

That is where we are tonight.
