BURNS, Ore. (AP) — A convoy of more than a dozen pickup trucks carrying armed men arrived at a national wildlife refuge in Oregon on Saturday.
Some of the men carrying rifles told journalists they were there to help with security for the group that has occupied the headquarters of the refuge since Jan. 2.
The men said they were members of the Pacific Patriot Network, a consortium of groups from Oregon, Washington and Idaho, The Oregonian reported (http://is.gd/gSSbJN ). They arrived at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge midmorning, carrying rifles and handguns and dressed in military attire and bulletproof vests.
Their leader, Brandon Curtiss, said the group came to "de-escalate" the situation by providing security for those inside and outside the compound.
One of the original occupiers of the refuge, LaVoy Finicum, said the group appreciates the Pacific Patriot Network's help, but "we want the long guns put away."
Curtiss said the new group is not staying inside the refuge, but are patrolling the perimeter.

They are well equipped, trained and practiced, many having recently served in combat. They will be viewed as a real threat to Federal sovereignty and control over 50+% of all land west of the Rockies.
In a crunch, and with supporters, they could probably put 1,500 men in the field.
When we look at this little town in SE Oregon, remember you can drive to the State of Jefferson in an hour.
Something is happening out here in the west.
Can’t be too much of a standoff if guys can show up to reinforce at will.
The Bundyites would do well to keep most of their forces outside of the refuge — and standing by in unknown locations.

Let’s see if the government and MSM will behave the same way as they did with the Occupy Wallstreet crowd.

Or when a bunch of Indian rabble-rousers and hooligans took over a building on federal land, thoroughly trashing the place and partying to no end, daring authorities to take them on. The feds let them have their way for a couple years.
That was decades ago on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay. Now those hooligans are being honored with tributes, and their graffiti is being restored, preserved and treasured. True story, just during this month in the news. Of course, they weren't a bunch of white ranchers defending their own rights.
The FBI is trying to send the nearby town into absolute hysteria, needlessly closing down schools, post offices, etc. they told some women in town that the "armed insurrection" was planning on kidnapping people and holding them hostage. In the meantime, ranchers and others who live outside of town are driving in and out of the refuge freely.
For the past two nights, there have been problems with people showing up uninvited and attempting to cause a reaction from the men inside. For example, a guy showed up armed and hostile, said some things that got the guys at the gate very nervous, so they asked him to leave and eventually had to force him to leave. Obviously , they can't call the Sheriff to bring law enforcement out there, so they called in the Idaho 3% and the PPN to put a perimeter around them and to be available in the town for any of these sorts of problems. The guys inside are convinced that the "rabble-rousers" trying to come storming in and kick something off are actually being sent in by the FBI.
Who “vets” these guys?
Drug cartels create enclaves in AZ. Jihadis create enclaves in France, UK, Sweden. The Basques have an enclave in NW Spain. The Goths and Huns created enclaves in the Roman Empire in the 4th century.
The Federal government is Godless, totalitarian and cruel but they are also brittle and reactionary. The trust in government is at its lowest ebb since CW1.
Let’s us pray for spot judgement against the Feds.
I understand what is at the heart of the Bundy group's protest but not certain this is the time and place to open that can of worms.
But maybe that was said about the stand taken at Lexington too.

The biggest problem at the moment is that Harney County apparently doesn’t have a Constitutional Sheriff.
