I worked for the Navy in Manila where there was no American Hospital. There were Hospitals at US Navy Hospital Cubi point and at Clark Airbase. My wife and several of the officer colleagues were pregnant.
The ruling was that if the child was born at one of the military hospitals it could be President. If born in one of the Manila hospitals it would not. So arrangements were made to fly the wives to Cubi point. We moved from Manila to Subic before the birthday and my son was born in the hospital at Cubi Point.
He has two birth certificates. One was issued by the US Department of State certifying the place of birth as the US Naval Hospital Cubi Point US Naval Base Subic Bay.
The other is issued by the Philippine government, perhaps the provincial government, certifying the place of birth as US Naval Hospital, Olongopo Zambales, Republic of the Philippines.
Think of that the next time you fill out a form......
his place of birth is Olongopo, Zambales, Republic of the Philippines. Not many forms permit that many characters

McCain got the nomination and ran so that made him eligible.

McCain was born on a US Military base - that’s the same as being born in the United States.
