Texas loves you, especially when you inhale a bit of flatulence out of the backside of a recently deceased dog.
Even though I carry concealed, I already stopped doing business with HEB because of their prohibition of open carry. Krogers is close by, and they allow open carry. And, I believe Wal Mart is wrong on this, as they do not have consumption on premises. I’ll have to see what Specs policy is. They sell LOTS of alcohol, but always allowed concealed carry.
Make sure and let them know you intended to buy a big screen tv that day! Oh well....
Exactly!
here in Michigan, open carry has been in existence for many years and a CPL is only required if one wishes to carry concealed.........
Except that, it would appear that, in order to open carry in Texas, you need a permit, so it actually has less to do with WalMart and more to do with the statist thugs in Texas?
I have no idea. I’m not from Texas. I could look. But I don’t think you would have to have a concealed permit to open carry
Actually, Sheila Jackass is a transplant from New York City.
Ironic. In Georgia, need a permit to carry but not one to keep it loaded & handy in a car.
From the article: The notice was sent out in anticipation of the Lone Star Stateâs open-carry law, which went into effect Jan. 1. It made Texas the nationâs most populous state to allow citizens with a permit to carry handguns openly in a holster.
WTF? It appears you have to have a permit for open carry.
True, but that’s another story. As things stand, the charge would be trespassing, and if they wanted they could bar open carriers completely by asking any open carrier they see to leave, regardless of whether you need a permit or not.
No, that IS the story...I could care less about Wal Mart - I was entirely excited to hear that Texas was actually going to allow open carry...only to find out you need a permit to open carry?!?!?! BAHAHAHAHA!!! That's hilarious. How come Texas hasn't told their statist thug legislators to pound sand, the 2nd Amendment is the ONLY permit you need to open carry???
Aaaaaaand is a Member of Congress from the great state of...
Got the night off from blog pimp control, huh? See, here's the thing: I got quite a few friends in Texas. All I ever hear from them is about how great Texas is. It's the jimdandy bestest!!! But then I look at what I see from Texas - the DUMBEST critter to ever grace the halls of Congress...Sheila Jackass Lee...and now, required to have a permit to open carry? Don't you guys understand that the 2nd Amendment is the ONLY permit you need???
Ok, so I thought, well, maybe Sheila Jackass Lee was a fluke...they will vote her out next time around...and...NOPE! Let's send her back to Congress. I know, her district is a buncha liberals...blah blah blah...but here's the deal, man - if Texas was only half as great as I'm always hearing, y'all would have sent her packing - running - tarred and feathered out of the state before she ever got elected the first time!!!!
I’m thinking Walmart or the ABC board or someone has their laws confused. If what this article says is true then convenience stores, grocery stores, Dollar General etc. would have to do the same thing.
You’re more than welcome to never set foot in Texas.
Have a nice day.

In a word: insane.
Because Ray Wylie Hubbard ping.
You’re right, and not only is she from New York, but:
In 2011 she was reported to have one of the highest staff turnovers in Congress and to be one of the worst bosses. The Huffington Post and Houston Chronicle reported that she had gone through 11 chiefs of staff in 11 years. In 2011 she was named as one of the “worst bosses in Washington” by “Daily Caller.” The Huffington Post stated that “Jackson Lee regularly appears on Washingtonian magazine’s list of the “Best and Worst of Congress” as the “meanest” member of House of Representatives.” That reputation as the worst boss on Capitol Hill continued; in 2012 Washingtonian again listed her as the meanest member of the House, a report in 2013 concluded that “the veteran Texas Democrat had the highest turnover rate for all of Congress over the past decade.”
