Some of the Best Reactions to Ted Cruz’s ‘Jump the Shark’ Response to Donald Trump
The Blaze ^ | Jan. 6, 2016 | Mike Opelka

After Donald Trump raised questions about Ted Cruz’s citizenship and, thereby, his eligibility to be president, Cruz responded by tweeting a link to a video clip from the classic TV program “Happy Days” showing Fonzie jumping a shark.

As you might expect, the Internet responded. Cruz’s tweet has already been re-tweeted almost a thousand times.

My response to @realDonaldTrump calling into question my natural-born citizenship? https://t.co/gWfAHznlCY

— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) January 5, 2016

For the record, “jumping the shark” refers to a moment in the life of a television program where the show loses its focus - as “Happy Days” did in the episode where a water-skiing, leather-jacketed Fonzie jumped over a shark in a pen. It has grown to become, as the New York Times noted, “a cultural reference for when something once popular has become overdone and gimmicky.”

Radio and TV host, Jon Hein actually coined the phrase years ago and created a popular web site listing television shows and the specific moment they “jumped the shark.”

Hein caught wind of Cruz’s co-opting his catchphrase and objected on Twitter.

I coined "jump the shark", and I do NOT approve this message. https://t.co/4RghVISb2b

Satellite radio host Gregg “Opie” Hughes heard about the Cruz tweet and decided make a customized version of the “Happy Days” clip, featuring Donald Trump.

While Hughes’ special effects are not exactly up to Pixar standards, we found the clip entertaining.

Watch the bit of video magic.

Trump is scared; he prefers sucker punches and innuendo to harm his opponents. He usually attacks from the left, going back to his Democrat roots.

Here is what Trump said about Cruz in Sep.

Cruz's corrupt super PAC is corruption at it's best. Then Cruz's super PAC funnels $500,000 to Fiorina's corrupt PAC? These politicians are prepaid, bought and sold.

Looking sharp Rafael.

“Here is what Trump said about Cruz in Sep. “

Trump was correct. It could be an issue. That is all.

Simple question-Is it true Sen. Cruz’s birth records are sealed?? From what I could find, at present all FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests filed in search of any U.S. citizenship documents to confirm the true official U.S. citizenship status of Ted Cruz have been denied access. All citizenship records for Ted Cruz are sealed unless and until Ted Cruz agrees to allow any such records to be released by either U.S. or Canadian agencies.

Whatever may be going on with these types of back and froths, the polls continue to make the situation pretty clear.

Here are my latest average GOP presidential race poll results I have been keeping since the 1st of September. They continue to speak for themselves:

Carson and Fiorina's steep fall have been mostly taken advantage of by Cruz and Trump. They are clearly the two leaders, with Trump well out in front.

Rubio continues to make some ground, and even Bush climber a bit...but he is still distant, and has not begun to get even close to his numbers of five and six months ago.

I continue to believe that they should take the top four for the rest of the debates. Anyone below 6 or 7 percent should appear on the earlier, second team debates.

Maybe Rafael is following the effective strategy of Obama, hoping this will end it.

In any case, Trump is correct, that it may be an issue. I makes us wonder why???

For some it is enough to raise the issue.

Jump the shark line was used on Trump in July after the McCain comments. Every time Trump jumps the shark his poll numbers go up. Why doesn’t Ted answer if his mother was a citizen at birth? He just says his mother was born in the US and a citizen now. This is what is getting Cruz into this mess.

He started at 9, dropped to 3 and now has rebounded to 6.

I am sure the donors who are sinking million into his campaign are grasping onto the one poll that made that average possible like poeple clings to anything that floats when a ship is sinking.

And, how does this reflect on Ted either way?

It looks like you’re having a paroxysm? You do know PACs and candidates may not interact, right? Right?
