One question, Reagan was obviously pro life but what was he able to change when he was president? I’m not being a smart alec, but with abortion the president is pretty limited since the supremes deemed it constitutional.

With that said, I don’t think Trump can do much... and I don’t think he would do much to help or hurt the current situation. I just don’t think this is on his top 10 list of things he plans to do anything with.

Reagan COULD have informed the governors of all fifty states that if they nullified Roe and Doe by enforcing their states’ laws against abortion, he would not lift a finger.

Reagan COULD have supported stripping abortion from the appellate jurisdiction of the USSC—something George W. Bush never proposed during the SIX YEARS the Republicans controlled the House and Senate.

Reagan DID work with Jesse Helms on legislation to declare the fetus a person within the meaning of the 14th Amendment. According to Roe v. Wade, if Congress does that, “appellant’s case collapses.” I.e., Roe v. Wade collapses.

The CATHOLIC BISHOPS lobbied in Congress to kill the idea. And this is the reason: The bishops were afraid that if Reagan did something substantive to end or reduce abortion, TOO MANY CATHOLICS WOULD BE BECOME REPUBLICANS. This is first-hand information direct to me from a senior aide to Helms.
