Donald Trump’s provocative first TV ad raises the temperature of GOP race
Washington Post ^

Posted on 01/03/2016 7:09:05 PM PST by springwater13

Donald Trump's ad begins with a shot of President Obama and Hillary Clinton. Then comes a U.S. battleship launching a cruise-missile strike. From there it moves swiftly through an explosive montage: The suspects in the recent California terrorist attack. Shadowy figures racing across the U.S.-Mexico border. Islamic State militants.

The narrator, a deep-voiced man, speaks ominously: "That's why he's calling for a temporary shutdown of Muslims entering the United States, until we can figure out what's going on. He'll quickly cut the head off ISIS and take their oil. And he'll stop illegal immigration by building a wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for."

The spot closes with the image of Trump thundering at one of his rallies, "We will make America great again!"

The Republican presidential candidate’s long-awaited and hotly anticipated first ad, which was shared exclusively with The Washington Post, is set to launch Monday as part of a series that will air in the final month before the Iowa caucuses. Trump has vowed to spend at least $2 million a week on the ads — an amount that will be amplified by the countless times they are likely to be played on cable news and across social media.

boy that would give us an anchor for maybe 40 years?!

that would be nice.

who’s old/dying on the SC lol? are their imminent appointments to be made?

anyone on the dem side that will quite before obummer leaves should Ted or Trump get elected?

would also be nice to have 16 years of very god presidents in a row.

we need that and then some with a 20 trillion debt, terrorists, ISS, illegals, BLM, gays, feminists, etc.

who could trump pick/ if not ted, I have NO idea.

how about pudgy :) he could possibly bring some northern states into play.

I mean Christie of course. I know he’s not considered conservative, but you have to hide your true colors just like trump did for business purposes on this east coast.

I’ve had to do it myself at times for work purposes

some people said I had no integrity for that, and neither did trump, but having a rood over your head, and food, those silly things, lol, are kind of important :)

once I was in a job for while, then I let loose lol

like Trump is doing now!

that hug with obummer was pretty damning though.

If Trump were to win the election, I wonder what power the citizens could muster up to impeach the Obama members (Kagan and Sotomayor) who are on the court for political purpose.

The “take their oil” thing is really out there. In my opinion, such a statement undermines the legitimacy of the United States around the world. It empowers our enemies, foreign and domestic.

He won't pick Ted for any position in his administration.

I hope though that he uses his bully pulpit to push for Ted to become Senate Majority Leader.

That Cruz ad for donations is odd. Not sure why it has a drumbeat going thru it.

I don’t believe Trumps paying for these....this is the guy that makes deals, shady and otherwise, and no man stands alone in this world...he’s got friends who know how to go through loop holes and under the table as does he....they’ve been doing so in business dealings for 30 years.

Again just because Trump SAYS doesn’t mean it IS reality. This is the guy who’s worked years putting on “realty” Shows.....just changing the stage from Hollywood To Politics isn’t going to change what he is and does...the two are closely connected and always will be. Trump would know...he is one.

Nonsense. Legitimacy is won by whoever has the bigger guns. The rest is just talk.

Been added, I guess. The dollar mantra was just begging for a send up.

I’m not here as often as I used to be due to family matters. I’ve noticed your screen nick though and all you do is bash Trump ALL THE TIME. If someone like me notices your shtick, I think most people have your number. It’s NOT working!

President Trump Cabinet

Gov. Greg Abbott as Vice President

Department of State, (return INS.) Newt Gingrich
Department of Justice, Rep. Steve King
Department of Treasury, (includes former Homeland Security - Customs) Carl Icahn (Offered and Accepted)
Department of War, (change the name back.) Include former VA function Gen. James Mattis
Department of Interior, (includes the legitimate functions only of former Dept. of Transportation, Dept. of Homeland Security - Border Patrol, and Energy Departments) Gov. Sarah Palin
Department of Labor and Commerce, Herman Cain

This proposed model has the President directly managing seven subordinates which is optimal.

Department of Education William J. Bennett in a Temporary position
as it will be ELIMINATED as proposed by The Donald, 9/23/15 at a Columbia, SC Town Hall with Sen. Tim Scott.
Department of Homeland Security ELIMINATE
Department of Energy ELIMINATE
Department of Health and Human Services ELIMINATE
Department of Housing and Urban Development ELIMINATE
Department of Veterans Affairs ELIMINATE
Department of Agriculture ELIMINATE
Department of Transportation ELIMINATE

On Fox news Sunday, 10/18/15 Trump said he would cut funding for EPA and Dept. of Ed.

In non-cabinet level jobs

Gen. Peter Pace as National Security Adviser
LTC Ralph Peters as Director of National Intelligence (NDI)
Sheriff Clarke should be FBI Director
Michelle Bachman as IRS Commissioner under Secretary Carl Icahn in Treasury
Admiral James A. Ace Lyons as Undersecretary of War Navy Branch.
LTC Allen West as Undersecretary of War Army Branch.
Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney as Undersecretary of War Air Force Branch.
Ted Nugent as Undersecretary of Interior
Lynnette Diamond Hardaway and Rochelle Silk Richardson would be great as President Trumps Co-Press Secretaries.

Marsha Blackburn, Speaker of the House
Ted Cruz as Senate Majority Leader.

There are tons of sites like that now. Most have so overloaded themselves with junk ad crap they are essentially no longer useable. It’s sort of like if network TV shows consisted of 99% ads and 1% show.

My solution has been to use Firefox with extensions like Adblock Plus, Element Hiding Helper, CookieCuller, BetterPrivacy, DoNotTrackMe, TabMixPlus, IE View, Classic Theme Restorer (to move tabs below all the other crap), RefControl, ViewAbout, Flash Video Downloader, and Visited.

(Adblock Plus is the one that does the heavy lifting for making web sites come back to life; most of the others are for convenience. Also, you’ll need to set extensions.blocklist.enabled to false via the about:config pseudo webpage to keep FF from whining about putative “out-of-date” extensions.)
