While the [Puerto Rico] government is bracing for the consequences of partial non-payment of its debt with creditors, the Governor's Mansion is preparing to celebrate an Epiphany festivity on January 5.
It was announced in an invitation released to the general public that the activity will begin with visits to the grounds of the Santa Catalina Palace [the Governor's Mansion] from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The Executive Mansion will later present a musical performance by the Puerto Rico State Band under director and composer Angel "Cucco" Pena. According to the provided information, the concert is scheduled to end around 7:00 PM.
The invitation also points out that the Magi will participate in the event and that admission is free.
This would be the first [holiday] event to be held at the Executive Mansion. Because of the "mood" in the [governing] Popular Democratic Party following the arrests of businessman Anaudi Hernandez and related individuals, Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla suspended in early December the Christmas festivities he had scheduled for December 5 and 6.
The Governor said during a December 30 press conference that he will not be able to pay $35.9 million dollars in bonds to the Puerto Rico Infrastructure Financing Authority, as well as $1.4 million in bonds to the Puerto Rico Public Financing Corporation.
"The creditors are anxious to seize our accounts in order to take what little we have left," Garcia stated.
Garcia pointed out to the lack of assistance from the United States Congress and asked for "union" from the island's political leaders.
I suppose the governor will ask the Magi if they could possibly loan him a couple hundred million.....
Puerto Rico ping
You know how broke the Puerto Rican government is when it has had to scale down its annual Dia de Reyes celebration to just this, and the event is not even being held on January 6 itself. No large venues with daylong activities, no gifts to children attending, no musical entertainment other than the Banda Estatal, no refreshments. Folks in the island will have to check out the festivities in their respective or nearby municipios.
Yeah, maybe that’s why he invited them to attend. Forget the kids.

Why should they pay anything when they know that liberals/Democrats/RINOs in Congress will eventually appropriate the money to pay all of their bills?

Another Cyprus.
I was raised in Puerto Rico and recall we didn’t have the most efficient government out there. Little did I know it would come to this.
The Epiphany is an integral part of the island’s Christmas festivities. Goodbye to the annual big bash the Commonwealth government would throw on that day, leaving the municipal governments to pick up the slack to some degree.
