Believing CO2 is a dangerous pollutant, not the life-sustaining trace gas that it is, is a mental disorder.
If all those who believe that CO2 is dangerous would stop emitting it personally, we could solve the problem overnight.
It is all Reagan's fault. Seriously.
Before Reagan, environmentalists concentrated on real pollutants. Stuff that should not be in the environment and that makes people sick. The solution of course was much more government control and redistribution of wealth.
Then, because of Reagan, the iron curtain fell. It became undeniable that the countries with the most government control had the worst pollution. Much of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe was covered in toxic waste. Stuff that should not be in the environment and that kills people. Stuff that no one would dump on their own property but would dump on the communist collective's property.
Meanwhile, the successful capitalist countries were steadily cleaning up all of their pollution. Basic Maslow's hierarchy of needs. When you no longer have to worry constantly about housing and feeding your children, you can start to think about cleaning up the environment.
So environmentalists had to turn to CO2, a trace gas that is essential for the existence of life on Earth. Why? Successful capitalist economies naturally emit more CO2 per capita than failed socialist economies because they have a much higher standard of living, which requires the production of energy.
The solution of course is much more government control and redistribution of wealth.
