The historic city of Selma, Alabama â a battleground during the Civil Rights Movement â is now reportedly abortion-free, after pro-lifers confirmed that abortionist, Samuel Lett, has ceased abortions in his illegal abortion facility. The abortion practice has been transformed into a weight-loss center.
Under Alabama law, medical centers that commit 10 or more abortions each month must be licensed as an abortion facility. Investigations into the Central Alabama Womenâs Clinic, which was operated by Lett, revealed that the center was committing more than the allotted amount.
Leaders from CEC For Life, Operation Rescue, Life Legal Defense Foundation, the National Black Prolife Coalition, and Created Equal have been working to raise awareness on Lettâs illegal and unethical abortion practices for nearly two years.
âWe are thankful that Dr. Lett has ceased abortions in Selma, as we know that this same kind of under-the-radar, illegal activity led to the horrors we saw in Kermit Gosnellâs Philadelphia clinic,â said Fr. Terry Gensemer, director of CEC For Life.
Although Lett has halted abortions, the coalition is requesting state authorities to take further action against Lettâs other illegal and unethical practices.
âIt took teamwork to drive abortions out of Selma,â said Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue. âThis was a fine example of what can be accomplished with the spirit of unity and cooperation.
âWe will continue to work together and push for complete assurance from the state that illegal abortion is dealt with in Alabama,â Newman said.
More black babies will live. #BLM should be pretty excited about that. /sarc.
Somebody needs to keep an eye on him. Of course, I wouldn't accuse him of going back in the abortion business as soon as no one's looking...
Not bad, but how close is the nearest legal abortionist? Huntsville?
