Must be just about every black male in the school. From the census data, it looks like the town is 90% white.
I seem to recall that the town was a significant passenger rail junction with a cross platform transfer between the L&N and Southern. The platform may have been located outside of the ‘urban core’ of the town.
We don’t know if they were even there. It was a rented cabin outside the school. Not sure why this is even considered a school situation. Seems like it was a bunch of jerks having a party and it got out of hand at the party especially when alcohol is involved.
I think he's from a single parent home, and this obviously affects the parent's job, student's studies, etc. So unnecessary.

If they weren’t there, then that is cause to charge them with a crime in itself. I don’t see any way the coaches are NOT responsible, in part, for this, if the children were all under their supervision.
Could a child ever get raped with a pool cue while they were under your supervision??? I know it wouldn’t be happening on my watch!

This is last year’s team. Reports are that the perps are upperclassmen, the victim is a freshman (this year). I figure the perps must be among those pictured.
Ooltewah is a very nice little town. Bedroom community for Chattanooga and a good place to live for people who work at VW and McKee Baking. I am not sure how they found that many black players. It’s a mostly white community. Virtually no crime.

They were out of town participating in a high-school basketball tournament. As such, there should have been some adult supervision during their off-the-court time.
According to Wikipedia, the town is only 0.84% black. However, GreatSchools.com shows that the high school is 22% black.

The coaches, chaperones and the rest of the team failed miserably in preventing a situation like this to happen. If the rest of the team had no idea the three that did this were dangerous and never said a word...maybe missing the rest of the tournament might give them something to think about next time something like this starts to look like it could happen again sometime during the rest of their lives. I can't believe they stayed to keep playing!

Maybe they have one of those ridiculous busing programs for city kids that are supposed to help with diversity.

They can charge and prosecute, but I understand it's very hard to convict without a body.
Betcha fifty cents the victim was the sole white guy in that photo. If so, prosecute as a hate crime.
Maybe not. Ooltewah is a Chattanooga suburb located a few miles north of the city in a mostly white area. I’ll wait for their identities to come out.
