Oregon Seizes Bank Accounts of Christian Baker Who Refused Gay Wed Cake

Melissa Klein, the owner of the bakery that refused to bake a cake for a homosexual wedding ceremony, has revealed that the state of Oregon seized all of her bank accounts weeks before she planned to pay the settlement from the suit brought against her by the couple.

According to Fox News, Klein and her husband were hit with a penalty of over $135,000 in July payable to the lesbian couple who cited "emotional suffering" for the mom-and-pop bakers holding to their Christian beliefs. The state, ignoring the couple's religious liberty, agreed and said the small business, Sweet Cakes by Melissa, couldn't discriminate against the rights of LGBT customers.

The Kleins quickly gained support for standing up for their own rights and began receiving donations which were kept in a separate account from their personal banking in order to pay the settlement. But in the weeks before Christmas, Mrs. Klein was shocked to find out that Oregon's Bureau of Labor and Industries had confiscated all the money in all of her accounts.

"It was like my breath was taken away," Melissa Klein said to Fox's Todd Starnes. "I panicked. Everything was gone."

"We had three accounts," she continued. "I have one account that's labeled, 'God's money' - our tithing. They just took it."

An attorney for the couple said the fight is not over and the couple "will continue to work to ensure that every American has the First Amendment right to express their faith-based beliefs, and to conduct their daily affairs according to their conscience."

Yup. Its a free republic. There’s certainly no division so great that a spark would cause a conflagration.

We’ll live forever, united with our leftist brethren.

Gotten to be I'm starting to see Go Signs out west.

On Jan 1, California cops can swoop in and seize guns with no prior notice, on a tip from anyone.

Now this.

I said it before. I'll say it again. The odds are low I live to see Dec 31, 2016.

Looks like the government of the State of Oregon has been subverted and taken over by homos. Fits the definition of ‘domestic enemies’ as I see it.

Will those fascist goons just give the money to those two carpet-munchers without even the appearance of due process?

What’s next? Arrest the Kleins and put them on a railroad train in shackles and send off to some ‘Sensitivity Re-Educational Kamp’ somewhere?

You can almost hear the sounds of hot pink vinyl jackboots.

Glad to see they will continue to fight. Amazing that a state can say “agree with me or I can take your assets”. Gee, isn’t this what Muslims do to non-Muslims? As a side note, this seizure emphasizes the need to have some cash put aside.

Fine aside they should fire their lawyer. A competent attorney could have prevented this from happening by taking the case to federal court on First Amendment grounds.

OR and WA were once one; I don’t think there’s a dime worth’s of difference in the two.

DJ, I would say OR people (and there is a minority of conservatives in the eastern part of the state) aren’t so much Nazis (a term they deplore) but just run-of-the-mill totalitarians.

Did they pay the $135,000 fine after their accounts had already been seized?

One thing they share in common is a large single Metro area (Portlandia and the Black Hole of Puget Sound) that hold the rest of their state hostage to ultraleftist fascist politics. Same with Colorado/Denver-Boulder, Delaware-Wilmington, Illinois-Chicago, Michigan-Detroit, Minnesota-Minneapolis/St. Paul, Nevada/Las Vegas, New York/NYC, Pennsylvania/Philadelphia and Virginia-NoVA. Remove just a single urban entity and the state goes Republican.

Was it confiscated to pay the settlement, or do they now have to come up with another $135,000? Can a state do that, was there a time of when it was to be paid?

Call it an axis of evil. The Gaystapo operates like the Nazis. Worship the High Holy Rectal Prolapse and its adherents or you will pay. Nazi/Communist/Totalitarian/Fascist. All of the above, and completely un-American, un-Christian, and un-Constitutional.

It seems like that is the case. The accounts were seized before Christmas and apparently they paid the fine last Monday.

The state seized whatever bank accounts the Klein's had, which apparently did not include the GoFundMe money. The Klein's used that to pay off the fine.
