Slidell Police on Monday (Dec. 28) arrested a suspect within minutes of an armed robbery at the Redfish gas station in the 3600 block of Pontchartrain Drive. Police say 32-year-old Elias Mendez tried to rob the gas station with a knife around 6:45 p.m. A clerk called 911 while the owner fought Mendez,

The guy broke rule number 1:
Never rob a gas station owned by foreigners.
The owner is from Yemen. He is a very big guy. And he is a scary looking guy as well. Nice people though. He used to employ a Coptic Christian guy but he went back to Egypt to try and bring his wife and kids back. I used to talk to this guy a lot. He was happy when Abdel Fattah el-Sisi became president. It gave him hope.
BTW, the owner's daughter married a local boy from a good family. He knocked her up so he had to marry her.
