Malls are obsolete. We have one mall left in our area. I’ve been there twice in ten years. The other major mall is shutting down. And this is shopping central. Three other major malls have shut down, one in response to gang violence. Our Country Club Plaza had some trouble in the summer a few years ago but that’s been settled down and it’s all open so controlled by weather.
This isn't a new thing, by the way. The first step in this process in retailing was the transition from enclosed shopping malls to a "big box" model where each store is a stand-alone structure surrounded by a sea of parking lots. The advantage of the "big-box" model is that it eliminated the enclosed corridors that had replaced street corners as the preferred locations for useless urban thugs and mutants to spend their time. You'll never hear a news story about 2,000 mutants rioting in a Wal-Mart parking lot -- especially in December.
Malls are obsolete, +1...
And that's happening everywhere.
I think they should add apartments and convert them to assisted living facilities. Plenty of room for exercise, no need to go anywhere for shopping...Provide clinic, medicial personnel, limited access and security. Otherwise, they're just sitting there, vacant.
The mall in my home town, i believe it’s the second mall built in America was a great place growing up....Then they installed a bus stop out back.
It’s still there now but the entire “Mall” part has been removed and is now just a bunch of stores only accessible from the parking lot.
Ferals RUIN EVERYTHING.
As a whole 12% of the population, the true troublemakers make up 4-5%.
Amazing what small numbers can do to a PC society..
