Reminds me of Paul Powell, Illinois Secretary of State and a Democrat, who never made more than $30,000 in that job. He died while in office in 1970, his death pre-empting bribery charges which were beginning to churn.

After his demise, almost a million bucks IN CASH was found stashed away in his hotel suite in the state capitol of Springfield.

Also found were 49 cases of whiskey, 14 transistor radios and two cases of creamed corn.

Creamed corn??? Ah, Congressman David Dilbeck comes to mind. Perchance were there any cowboy boots found in that hotel room?
