*However, most devout Ted Cruz and Rand Paul supporters that I know are coming unhinged and are down right mean about Trump’s success.*

I find that to be the case as well. Their reason is difficult to grasp. To give support to another candidate is American, but to be berated and called names for doing so is nothing more than an extreme bully would do. Fortunately, most of US admire Brother Ted far too much to fire back at them. However, it does make one consider just who would generate so much anger to voters to make them feel thus. Would this be their flaw or a particular flaw in the candidate? At the moment there is no answer to that particular question.

I think that they have had this preconceived notion for years and years that Ted and/or Rand are supposed to be the country’s final last hope, given the universal feeling among conservatives that the country is going in the wrong direction.
Then comes along Trump in the 11th hour, stealing all the thunder from their particular dream to get the country back. What they fail to realize is that the GOPe is not and was not going to let Ted or Rand even get close to being the GOP nominee. They are not thinking outside of the box and I do not think they realize the severity of the situation because, unfortunately, it is much, much worse than our country just merely going in the wrong direction. We are in uncharted territory.
For me, Trump is the only logical direction; right, wrong or indifferent. Yes, it is a tough pill to swallow for many people and it reminds me of this Don Rumsfeld quote: ‘You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have’.
Make no mistake, this is war.

I’ve been wondering that since the viciousness here against Trump supporters is fairly widespread. There are some personality types that, while appearing calm and rational, project irrational and disruptive feelings onto those around them as a way of getting rid of those unwanted emotions.
