Attention videographers: The city of San Antonio is offering state-of-the-art cameras and high-tech television studios to residents. For free.
A $15 million downtown facility is available without charge to city residents to produce programs for the San Antonio Community Access Network.
Content includes arts, music, cultural, comedy, youth and religious programming. Even politics and sex.
âThe channel is available to any individual or organization within the local viewing area that meets registration and training requirements to produce video content for telecast that is protected speech under the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution,â said Di Galvin, assistant director of government and public affairs for the city.

Nothing like that here.
I have a 4K capable camera and sony vegas editor but lack studio facilities and lighting equipment.
There is a building I know about full of scrap and the like that could work as a rental studio. There are three bays. I’ve pitched the idea to one of the owners I know. No dice.
I’d do green screen and the like but being outside at the mercy of the weather and Mr. Sun never has been practical.
I miss doing TV and video production on a larger scale but IT pays more and I have a much better life than TV production land could offer. So I slap stuff together for YT and make stock clips. I don’t even know why I bother with stock any more. It’s been a long time since I made payout.
From what I read on the submitter’s forums, I’m not the only discouraged one. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment and lost causes.
How about a show about firearms?
I got my start in television at the public access studios in East Lansing, MI. Had a 26 year career in television engineering.
My wife is going to eat this up.
I was a product of a tech college 1 year program and am the only one hired directly out of there to SCETV’s network headquarters and maybe one of three ever known to work there.
Learned tons the first few years there, the supervisor types actually cared some but they retired. Newer management decided to groom favorites for advanced positions.
I went through another tech college program to fix computers and after a long struggle finally escaped. The new management didn’t really care for me others in the unwashed masses class trying to do better for ourselves.
Miss the job but not the office politics.
Include live feeds from free states showing citizens enjoying their rights.
San Antonio never had Community Access until now??
We were doing this in Dallas in the early 1990’s
Masters were taped on U-matics back then. Fun Times
Yeah that’ll go over like a fart in church..... but none the less a good suggestion.
Merry Christmas Laz....
Remember the 3/4 U-matic very well.
I worked with 2 inch quad more.
How many San Antonio freepers do we have?
Smells like more wasted tax dollars.
I am willing to bet that nothing any Freeper produces there will be what they had in mind setting up the studio. Tax dollars are only supposed to be used for politically correct speech.
