Patricia Neal, who starred in "The Waltons" (1971), another film about maintaining strong family bonds during tough times, in this case, during the Depression era;

Minor nit-pick: this was actually titled "The Homecoming" and ended up giving rise to The Waltons series. The parents and the grandfather were all different actors, but the children remained as originally cast.

It’s considered a bit campy but I always liked that Clark Griswold Christmas movie as he tries to have an old-fashioned Christmas with his highly dysfunctional family. I used to identify with the Yuppies next door but now I’m a little more like Clark Griswold and I did almost fall off a ladder last week trying to clean my gutters.
