Open Carry at Immanuel Baptist Church

Immanuel Baptist Church, Rice Lake, Wisconsin

Both people in the picture above are open carrying.

A correspondent reports on open carry at a church in Northern Wisconsin.  There is a sign near the entrance that says that legal carry of guns is welcome.

Here is the pro-carry sign.  It is a simple 8 1/2 by 11 sheet:

Legal Gun Carriers Welcome at Immanuel Baptist Church, Wisconisn

Wisconsin is underrated as a pro-Second Amendment state. The state never outlawed open carry, even if the urban areas routinely violated Second Amendment rights of citizens before 2010. Wisconsin passed a strong amendment to the State Constitution in 1998, affirming the right to keep and bear arms for all "legal purposes". Art. 1, Section 25, reads:

The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation, or any other lawful purpose. (Art. 1, § 25)

The amendment was passed through one of the most difficult processes to amend a state constitution in the United States. The amendment had to be passed by the State legislature. Then, in the next legislative session, it had to be passed again, without amendment. Finally, it was sent to the people in a referendum, and was passed by them.

The Wisconsin amendment passed the referendum with an amazing 74% of the vote, 1,205,873 to 425,052.

The Second Amendment is being exercised more and more. People are overcoming the conditioning that they have been subjected to for the last 50 years.

I believe that Rush Limbaugh has said that the real "blame" America ideology started after the Kennedy assassination. John Kennedy was a member of the American Rifle Association. He was murdered by a Communist.

The leftist media could not let that become the defining part of the event, so they started pushing the idea that it was America and the gun culture that was to blame.

At least that is how I interpret Rush's take on when things started going really wrong.

My new church is not, to my knowledge, open carry but when I asked what the church policy was the reply was “bring ‘em!”. :-)

I like what a freeper posted in a similar thread: “My church has armed security that only one person knows about”

"Is God or Jesus a person?"

They are certainly personal. In that regard, yes.

The question these days is indeed becoming whether being judged by twelve or carried by six is better.

Now as a rule, I choose being judged, as such, as a rule I stay out of the victim zones whenever possible.

However, if I had no choice but to enter such a non-searched victim zone, in theory mind you, my LCP in a pocket holster is very discrete so unless it became absolutely necessary, who`ed ever know it had been there?
