Christie: ‘Not Taking Any Position’ on Legalization Until Border Secured, No Path to Citizenship

New Jersey Governor and Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie stated he wouldn’t take any position on legalizing people in the US until the border is secured, but declared, “Never a path to citizenship” in an interview broadcast on Monday’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” on the Fox News Channel.

Christie said, in response to a question on what he would do with the people in the US illegally [relevant remarks begin around 3:10] “Never a path to citizenship. No one who comes here, knowingly, illegally, should be rewarded with the greatest possession that anyone can have, and that’s an American passport, it just shouldn’t happen. And we can’t even begin to talk about legalization until we secure the border.”

Is Christie coming around on immigration or is this just his Scott Walker phase? He's apparently despised in New Jersey now.

Mr Donuts is starting to say the right things. Has had a conversion? I am unaware of his previous 'IMMIGRATION AMESTY PLANS'.

This definitely goes against the GOPe.

Christie has a secret plan to deal with illegals.

He's going to EAT them!!!

"Not taking any position". So he supports it. Avoiding an issue which is controversial ONLY if you take one side means you are taking that side.

It's sort of like when they ask these entertainers like Ricky Martin or Adam Lambert "Are you gay" and they respond "I don't think it matters and I don't like to discuss my sexuality" which translates to "yes"

Obama is in Hawaii and Christie is bereft.

He just needs another hug and snuggle from O and he’ll come to his senses.

Is this the Christie version of McCain’s “Build the dang fence” campaign commercials during his last campaign so he could get reelected after Arizonans got tired of his promoting amnesty. We never did get the dang fence and McCain went back to promoting amnesty after he was reelected and ridiculing Trump for wanting to build his dang fence.

Until he comes clean about the bridge, he’s off my list.

(he’ll also be off it if he does come clean, LOL)

In this case, he’s trying to pander to the base - a bit late, to say the least. Cruz has done much better, but even Cruz showed up a bit late, as Trump was the ONLY CANDIDATE that made securing the border the centerpiece of his campaign, whereas every candidate should have done the same...but their puppet masters (i.e., big money) did not permit it - or they never thought it was much of an issue to begin with.

Christie has learned that this stance “polls well” from the rise of Trump and Cruz, and the fall of Rubio.

...which is why I suggested that it was his Scott Walker phase. ;o)

The word ‘knowingly’ is troubling. That exempts anchor babies and other minors who become the golden ticket for the rest of their family.

Sorry, no kudos unless he can actually read, comprehend and enforce the 14th A.

He’s trying to lawyer his way through, like any slimy politician
