This just pisses me off. I wrote my Congressman on this one some time ago and his response: We need to levy state sales tax on Internet sales "to level the playing field" for brick and mortar stores. Bull crap! They just want the tax income for their state. Durbini's attitude is: Stick it to all consumers so the state can waste more of your money. Screw that!

For next to nothing, any small business can open an Internet site for sales if they want to. Indeed, when I was teaching programming courses at a Big Ten university, we asked local businesses if we could build them a web site as part of team projects. I seriously doubt we're the only university doing this kind of thing. Someone should tell Durbin to go stick it where the sun don't shine.
