Police tackling stream of tips on ‘affluenza’ teen Ethan Couch
The Dallas Morning News ^ | 12/19/2015 | Naheed Rajwani

The search for Ethan Couch continued Saturday, eight days after he missed a probation check-in that was required under terms of his sentencing for killing four people while driving drunk in 2013.

Authorities warn that the 18-year-old, who got 10 years’ probation when sentenced last year, is making matters worse by not turning himself in.

“Every day he’s gone, things are going to get worse for him,” Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson said Saturday. “We don’t care where he goes, how far he goes. He’s going to be looking over his shoulder wherever he is.”

With a $5,000 reward now up for grabs, people across the country are getting involved in the search. The Tarrant County sheriff’s office has received dozens of tips a day — emails, phone calls, tweets, Facebook messages — from people who think they’ve seen Couch or claim to know where he might be, Anderson said.

The challenge now, he said, is to sift through those tips and see if any of them check out.

His mother should be in jail.

Both parents should be in jail until the brat either turns himself in or is captured.
It should play on the news every hour that they are in jail and will not be released until he turns himself in.

See what the little jackass thinks of mommy and daddy.

I think if I’d been offered some sweetheart deal like this...I would show up every single time for the probation officer. In this case....his folks had to pay off some Texas political party and the amount of stupidity they are showing is serious. I’m guessing that the kid is on some vacation somewhere...probably out in the Pacific and just didn’t write down any calendar reference to this. He’ll show up the day before Xmas and just say it was a mistake.

I’d say fine...then tote him off to state prison for full sentence.

I might also say this....I’m guessing in the fine print...as he meets each time with the officer....he’s supposed to take a drug test. I’m willing to bet that he’s absolutely not clean and part of this story is that he’s trying to dry out enough and get the stuff out of his system before he shows up.

Other sources report he ran off accompanied by his mother - there is something really wrong here ... between his mom and him.

The stupid kid won (thanks to daddy buying off the judge) the lottery with just probation. This proves he couldn’t care less about the people he killed. The authorities better put a track on daddy’s bank account and check if he’s been funneling money out from the business. All three need to be in three separate prisons as far away from each other as possible. Little young blonde boy will be ripe for the pickings in prison.

Who cares about the spoiled little twit? I’m still in awe that a judge was so stupid he bit for the “affluenza” defense. They judge should be kicked off the bench.

Doesn’t seem as though the father knows where they are.

He’s not supposed to drink alcohol or be around it, and there’s a video that’s been circulating, that shows him at a party playing beer pong. Supposedly, he & mom took off right after that video went public.

I was shaking my head in disbelief with that whole "affluenza" defense. If the judge or anyone else bought that nonsense, the response should've been "fine, the parents are responsible for those deaths. They can serve the jail time for negligent homicide". And the brat should've been put in foster care, as the parents were unfit if they brought up a child with no moral scruples.

The whole thing is insane. Plenty of kids grow up rich and spoiled in an environment devoid of moral training. And by the time they're old enough to drive, they know right from wrong.

Well we already know what a truthful person Dad is.

He probably stashed the kid and the ex in Cancun. Mexico is a non extradition country after all.

Ethan deserves ten years of *hard time*...not probation.

Not until the party money runs out.
Then he gets picked up in Mexico for trafficking drugs.

Now *that* would be some unintended justice wouldn’t it.
Run to Mexico to escape an American prison, then get sent to the oh so progressive Mexican prison system for drug charges.

That white boy wouldn’t last a month in a Mexican prison.
He would be someone’s girlfriend before the first week was out.
Probably dead within a year.
Justice.
I take it anyway I can get it.

I agree with the drugs theory.

when you’re convicted, you lose the right to privacy. They look at your penis. No way to fake it.

that said, a person doing a medium amount of drugs can flush his system in only a few days.
